    Hello ! :)

Please excuse the misspelling of Prius in my forum name (Rockin Prisus :D) typed too fast and did not spell check. Maybe an administrator here could help me out and correct it for me

My wife and I are about to purchase a 2008 Prius with just over 10,000 miles on it.

First how do I know which model it is... they told me they think it is a II?

I have attached a list of the cars options which I am thinking will help answer that for me.

EDIT MONDAY APRIL 5TH. I PUT THE WRONG PRICE FROM THE GET GO ON THIS ORIGINAL POST.... NO WONDER I HAD SO MANY SAYING IT WAS ON THE HIGH END...DOHHHH HATE WHEN I DO THINGS LIKE THIS . THANKS AGAIN TO ALL THAT REPLIED AND SORRY ABOUT THE MISCOMMUNICATION THE PURCHASE PRICE WAS $17,300 NOT THE $19,500 I POSTED THE FIRST DAY: )

Second is $19,500 a fair price on this vehicle as it is in near excellent condition.

I appreciate your help and we are both really excited about our purchase!

In 2008 only a Package II has a single CD player. Check what 2010's are going for in your area by building a car on www.aaa.com.

If it's a private party sale I would have a 3rd party Prius-capable mechanic do a thorough check before any commitment.

i paid $21,000. for my 08 in fall of 07. even with only 10K miles seems a bit pricey. what is the blue book? how much fo 2010? what is the trade off in features between 08 and low package 10?

KBB has "retail" at $20,575 and it's even higher at the "Certified Pre-Owned" level, which this car is.

A Brand NEW 2010 at this trim level is just under $23,000.

I have done all the searches of Toyota and "other brand" local DEALERS in my area on line... and this is the "lowest" priced one I have found.

It is at a Cadillac store and has been sitting there on the lot for a few months.. so they decided to lower the price for me.

All in all I think I have found a great deal !

We pick it up tomorrow and the final price was $17,300 (plus tax and tags of course).

I purchased my used 08 in Dec 08 with 7.5k miles and $18.4k.

With today's market condition, that seems too high.

    Thanks for the thought.....

I researched the market area I live in really thorough (I went out 250 miles).... and this car IS priced on the low end of all 2008's out there ???

Maybe the dealers are pricing them high and no one is buying them.

I just ran across tonight.... while continuing to search... a USED 2010 for $21,211.00... again same options.

That is $3911.00 difference plus $312.00 dollars more in tax... totalling $4223.00 more.

I have been buying cars for 30 years and I can honestly say I believe this to be a fair deal for my wife and I.

Well I hope so.... time will tell :D

My Dad used to say that he had the world's best and cheapest stereo set - in the store - there will always be something better and cheaper out there. Since you have bought the car, maybe it's time to stop researching the market and instead to research about fuel economy and simple DIY maintenance (lots of info right here at priuschat) so you will get the most out of the car. Just my 2 cents. :)

I don't know if the attached list of the car's features is exhaustive. But I believe that there's NOTHING listed that was an option or part of a 2008 option package.

In fact, EVERYTHING listed was standard in the 2008 Base/Standard Prius, which itself was a slightly stripped version of previous model year Base/Standard Priuses, i.e., for 2008 they deleted heated door mirrors, wheel trim rings, tonneau/cargo cover, front seatback pockets and cruise control which had been on previous model year Base/Standard Priuses, and were now in the 2008 Prius Option Package #1.

Check out the 2008 Prius eBrochure which lists all the equipment that was standard and in each of the numbered Option Packages:

    http://www.toyotacertified.com/ebrochures/08_prius.pdf

If in fact this is a 2008 Base/Standard Prius, then it had a MSRP of $20,950 in 2008, and $19,500 seems high considering that it's two years old with 10,000 miles on it.

That is some good advice :)

Posting my question here was both GOOD and BAD

The GOOD: I got great info and then deciced to buy the car... for delivery today (Monday 04/05)...

The BAD: After signing the papers... I received a few more posts telling me the price was high:eek:

So I felt I still needed to keep looking :(

My wife and I are MORE THAN EXCITED about this purchase and we will be coming here to the forum to get all kinds of tips like you mentioned, to help us get the most from our new purchase!!!!

We will be especially interested in getting information on how to drive the car to obtain the most mpg we can, as we have heard from some Prius owners we know... there are tips for this!

    Thanks Prius 2009 :tea:

    Thanks for the GREAT INFO!!:)

We have purchased the car at 17,300 dollars NOT 19,500... so it was much less than you thought.

I am sorry if I mislead anyone on the price... I have to go back and check, but I thought I said 17,300 .

EDIT: I WENT BACK AND LOOKED... SORRY I HAD WRITTEN $19,500 INSTEAD OF $17,500 WHICH IS WHAT THEY WERE ASKING... AND I BOUGHT IT FOR $17,300. DOHOOO HATE WHEN I DO THAT:)

It has Package 2 options as I could tell from the link you set me up with.

We picked it up this afternoon and we LOVE IT... IT IS MORE THAN WE EVER EXPECTED! :peace:
Just reading the owners manual to make sure I understand all the nuances of it.:D

    Thanks agin for the link!
