When I plug my new iPad into the USB port in my car (factory) my iPad displays "Device not compatible with iPad" ... Noooooo! Anyone else have the same experience? :(

Not sure exactly how that works. Can you plug a laptop into your car's usb port?
The iPad can plug into a computer via the usb cable. This is how it gets updates and can sync with iTunes.
What is it you are trying to do?

Toyota is behind the times when it comes to usb integration. Try streaming blue tooth. I went aftermarket on head unit.

Is it the same message you get with an iPhone. With the iPhone you just have to say "no, I don't want to turn on airplane mode to minimize interference", but that wouldn't really make sense with the iPad.

Note, the iPhone still works just like a regular iPod would.
