Re: When I had a moment like that... I wasn't the one delivering the message...

You are a VERY lucky man. That vampire could have really sucked you dry

    Could have...

She absolutely did... I didn't have a running car (just a t-bucket that I had to quickly reassemble), no tools, none of the art, none of my collections of coins, stamps, gems, metal rounds, birthday/xmas presents, most all of my hunting trophies from around the globe, the pictures, did I mention the tools, hardly any clothes, and I moved into a room at my cousins place... I had a guitar, a Casio AZ-1, some switches/pedals/music amplifiers, my footlocker and a duffel bag of some clothes as well as the guns from the safes... which were later taken by the sheriff for 19 months because she filed a restraining order... I did start again from scratch, less than scratch, plus she kept spending money I didn't have and she wasn't earning, which ended up being almost $40K of additional debt; then she withheld my business records and turned me into the FTB and IRS for under-reporting, which was also a bite on my nice person, but they are all paid off now, and I don't owe anything other than a small mortgage and a Prius car payment for another year and a half, and I don't own my own retirement accounts except for this one from PERS.

But you are quite correct, I consider myself a very lucky man.

I met Susan online... in the summer of 97... the woman I wish I had met soooo long ago... she has convinced me not all women are the evil spawn of satan... she doesn't yell at me just because she can, but she has laughed at loud in front of our friends when I goof up... which happens more frequently than I want to admit.

In an hour, we will be looking at another house to buy for the kids... I need to get one more so all of our kids get a house when we pass away... in this market, we would be stupid to not try to provide for them when we know good and well that when the upturn goes full swing again, they will be priced out of being able to get anything to own.

And we don't need to yell at each other to decide what is going to happen... or who should be taking the flak for messing up... cause we all mess up from time to time, no need to yell about it.

    Re: Could have...

No, of course not. Perhaps half of them are, but certainly not ALL of them

But I hear enough sad tales like yours, and have even witnessed a few with co-workers, that this guy will remain happily single

It's the middle of the day... it's raining outside... and they're still at it...

Yes... they are a younger couple...

And it appears it's the primary reason for arguments...

When I lived in rural N.D. my nearest neighbor was 3/4 of a mile away. But the damn birds would start chirping at the top of their lungs at first light, which was about 3:30 a.m. in summer, and wake me up if I had the windows open, which I had to to get some of the cool night air before the scorching heat of the summer day.

In Seville, my first 6 months there, the neighbor's rat-sized dog barked constantly whenever I opened my window. I wanted to strangle that damn dog. I moved to an altogether better apartment.

Most of my 4 years in Fargo my building was pretty quiet, as the management company tried to steer quiet people into it.

Now I'm in a senior's community. Quiet, clean, peaceful.

    Good to hear Pat

I have transferred the funds from the Emergency Fund To Get Pat Laid into the Emergency Fund To Get Daniel Laid. Which is now sitting at around $1,100

Speaking of swimming in it, I have this mental image of a dolphin wading pool, Daniel, and a sweetie. Could be kind of expensive to arrange

I liked my upstairs neighbor in my old apartment. I was there...5, 7 years? and I never saw or heard him. Ever. I never heard any activity from upstairs (sounds of walking, water running, etc). Nothing. I never saw anyone going into that apartment or coming out of it. And I was in and out of my apartment at all hours of the day and night. The mail never piled up in his mailbox (though he did receive mail) and there were never packages waiting in front of his door. The weirdest thing was I never saw the position of the blinds on his living room and bedroom windows change. If they did change they always were back in the same position as when I saw them last (just slightly opened but not so much that you could see anything). The property manager said that a "very nice Asian man who travels a lot" lived up there. My friends were convinced it was a pot farm but even then you'd expect to see or hear some activity every once in a while.

I was growing these nice tall "fern weeds" on my patio. My patio extended out farther than his balcony so the ferns just grew up, up and up and pretty soon they started to pass his balcony rail. I thought about tying a little note to one of the leaves on the tallest fern. Something like "Hello? Anyone there?".

He was the best neighbor I ever had.
