Better late than never? I don't think so...

    So I traded in my 7-year old Accord for a Prius, and what do I find in the mail today but a recall for nothing less than the driver's airbag...

    So after being in mortal danger from metal fragments passing through the airbag at high velocity, for SEVEN YEARS, they finally issue a recall.

    Note that this airbag issue was known to exist in other similar models, and was discovered YEARS ago.

    Seems like all the car manufacturers were racing to the bottom...

    Maybe you could find a lawyer who would help you file a lawsuit for the mental anguish that you were never exposed to? :madgrin:

    Echoing Malorn: There's a smoking gun in there somewhere, I know it. This will be very bad for Honda over the coming years. Their reputation may never recover from this (or at least it will take 10 years, or maybe at least 3 to 6 months). Buy GM, or at least American, or at least something made by a company that used to make stuff in America. :)

    Think of all the other manufacturers that have hidden defects. They must have erased any evidence knowing about it in light of what happened to Toyota. At least Honda did come out. Any car is subject to some kind of a defect.

    Isn't it interesting that after all these months, no one has raised a hand and said "we have proof of Toyota's unintended acceleration and that no one has come out to claim another incident after the "black box" told its tale.

    What will NASA find? We shall see. If you can shoot a Shuttle out to space and bring it back, you should be able to find this problem in a few days. Oops, the Shuttle had defects too.

    I suppose it was totally OK to waste millions of dollars burning up expensive scientific gear in the Mars atmosphere because somebody couldn't convert feet to meters. "Nobody's perfect."

    It's easier to make excuses than to get it right. Yes, you ARE a rocket scientist, expectations are just a wee bit higher and missing something like that is a total f*ckup.

    Note that basically all of the vehicle flaws we're seeing are DESIGN flaws, so they're not the fault of some guy on the assembly line.

    I think ALL the manufacturers have bodies buried somewhere, and it's only a matter of time before it all comes out. They got away with it for a while due to lack of oversight and because they were all doing it - but the jig is up now.

    Yeah, we should be going pre-Nader for all our cars. No collapsible steering columns, only lap belts, no crumple zones, etc.

    You aren't really living until you've driven a vehicle that can kill you in a 15mph collision. :evil:

    Buy a Class A motorhome and get your wish. Bonus - they handle like they might flip at any moment and they take up the maximum width of the traffic lane so there is less margin for lane drift :madgrin:
