According to the email I received a few days ago, emails will be arriving between 1 and 6pm west coast time. So you have a bit to wait yet.

We'll need a thread to see how many people actually get on the depositors list. I plan to as a back-up to my Model S reservation just to be sure I have a full EV option in case things go south w/Tesla.

And what's with the b/w 1p-6p crap? I can almost understand why the cable guy can't give an exact time, but you can't give a specific time an email will be sent?

sure thing Evan, I would even put a deposit on a Volt (gulp), if GM had the forsight to have such as reservation system (not likely). The first one to market is going to be the winner, and I'm fairly certain that's going to be Nissan and the Leaf, unless some miracle happens for GM, or Tesla, (or Toyota decides to produce the PHEV Prius sooner, not too likely either)

Tesla is still, far and away, my first choice, even if I have to wait a while for it. It simply meet my needs better than the Leaf with a family of 5 and relatively frequent trips of >60 miles one way and often of 120 miles or so.

But I could get by with the Leaf if I had to though I'd probably opt for a PHV Prius and trade in my current Prius if both options were available at about the same time if it became clear that the Tesla would not be an option.

Evan: The email is supposed to be sent out in batches, the first going out at 10:00 a.m. pacific time (1:00 p.m. eastern time). Presumable it's to avoid overloading their server that they're spreading it out. Either that, or they want to give a bit of a first chance to the first ones who signed up for the email list.

A thread would be a good idea.

They also don't want to trigger any 'junk' mail auto filters.
If you send, say 10000 emails (not sure of the actual number) within a short period of time, an ISP may will filter those out as 'junk' right at their servers.
Won't matter what your spam settings are, it can all happen at their servers.

still waiting on mine. i can understand the staggered email invites. this prevents a huge rush on the registration servers.

what i cant understand is my not being the first one notified!!

Because they are obviously going to inform me first! :)

It will be interesting to see if they just send out a link to a website - so anyone who gets it can post it - or if each person gets a unique registration code.

all I can say is, I have eaten a 1/2 medium sized (11oz) bag of peanut butter M&Ms waiting on this email at work. I am as nervous as a schoolgirl at her first dance :)

BTW, my guess is that Nissan is probably going to send the email to the potentional buyers in the INITIAL markets first, since they are all that matters to them right now... those are the cars getting delivered in December. They probably are targeting the zipcodes of those potential buyers, since they are very real possibilities of getting a car.

Interesting that the Nissan/Leaf website has a button for "reserve your LEAF" but it is just a link to reserve online which is a video. Makes one wonder if the sign-up has been activated at all yet.

I've seen no indications on any message board that anyone has gotten the email. You'd think that if the mail only went out to target markets, that still someone in that market would have posted.
