I have just bought a 2007 gen2 T-Spirit, coming from a Lexus IS200 Turbo (300 BHP), so the change is substantial!!

Got to say I love the car though, relaxing to drive and WOW what an Auto box (OK CVT)!! The only Auto's I have driven have had Ford written on them - not good at all......

So far I am saving £75 a WEEK in fuel alone, and must say after the initial shock of not being the fastest car on the road I really don't care any more, the smile on my face when the 1st tank gave me 50MPG and 400 miles (with 2 pips of the fuel gauge still left) was worth the loss of BHP. That was just normal driving, not P&G, so things can only get better:p

The reason for the change of car is to enable me to save money and get enough to emigrate to the USA, within the next 2 years. North Carolina is where I have a lot of friends and just love the people there:)

Oh It NEEDS a Sub woofer, can I take the feed from the centre channel? JBL system.

    Welcome to Prius ownership :)

It's not the fastest or most exciting car on the road, but it's quick enough and the fuel savings are amazing. Why do you think we all have that smug grin

Emigrate to NC? What's wrong with ole' Blighty? Actually best not answer that :(

Welcome! So why would you need to change cars because you coming to the USA?

I guess so that the fuel savings will assist with his cashflow. £75 ($115) a week is not a large amount of money, yet it's substantial enough.

I would imagine that if he sells his house and also the Prius when he comes to emigrate that he'll have a reasonable lump sum to assist him when he lands in NC.

I'd be curious what he does for a profession as I believe the USA is almost impossible to emigrate to unless you are some Doctor, Professor, Pop Singer or Super Rich.

Or you fall in love with a wonderful woman from Maine. Ok, I admit that's not normal emigration. :D

    I am a Tattoo artist!!

However if we go down the E2 visa route we can buy a business for $150000 and get a visa that way. I also have the option of being sponsored in on the work sponsorship visa however that takes up to 5 years for our business and skills calss. USA is very hard to get into BUT well worth it for the people who really want something in life.

Yea the cost of the Prius was so good it was hard to say no to (2007,7500miles, every option for $9K). Doing the maths, 75*52=3900 - petrol savings year 1, 400 insurance saving, 250 road tax saving thats £4550 running costs saved in 1 year that is a worthy saving, on a essential tool. Thats if we only use the Prius for going to work and back, not taking into account trips around the country etc. In 2 years the car will be effectivly free, and still be worth a few £'s when we sell.

We have an MR2 Turbo that is a show car for days when we want to have FUN in a car........
