ScottG10, I live not far from you in Lynnwood. I too have a GIII with pearl white exterior with gray interior and am very interested in seeing the results of your wood dash kit installation.

My next mod is a tint job (here comes the sun) followed by the wood dash.

I would sure like to get the tint done on mine but have a hard time justifying it to the DW. At least she bought off on the the wood!

Here a picture of my installation of the wood dash kit (bamboo). When I ordered the kit I didn't notice that there are several small differences in the pushbuttons layout between the US and the EU Prius (HUD, NAV and watch). But my elder brother came to visit me, thankfully he's an artist with his hands, and he modified one of the wood panels, otherwise I couldn't install it. I'm still looking for a solution for the "copilot" door handle wood panel, it seems that in the US Prius there is a pushbutton that we do not have (probably doors lock/unlock), so I have a hole to be filled. Maybe a brass plate...

Looks nice. And if you started out with the same upper NAV panel that I used in my car, your brother performed an amazing modification. He should be a surgeon!!

Not sure I'd worry too much about opening on the passenger side. I'm surprised to Euro Prius doesn't have the door lock/unlock switch as in the US version.

Actually, that's dark grey. Misty Grey has contrasting door panels and centre console lid. This one is all the same colour (yes the door panels are lighter but Misty Grey door panels are darker than the seats)

No worries. Toyota usually only has one beige and one grey interior.

Most so-called, "Real Wood" dash trim in modern cars is more like plastic than wood. The automakers allowed themselves to be influenced by car buyers who did not understand that wood, 'Real Wood' comes a tree, and no 2 trees are ever the same. The automakers then took whatever wood they advertised, maple, walnut, oak etc, and bleached it white. Then they stained it all the same artificial color so Mrs. Gotbucks could expect her phony looking wood dash board to match the one in the showroom perfectly. This could never have happened if nature was allowed to take charge of the appearance of the wood used as dash trim.

Oh, and isn't Bamboo a form of grass ? It certainly isn't a tree.

just curious . . . . and who at Toyota thought that Black carpet floor mats was a 'Match' for either beige or grey ? ? ?

I'm still waiting for someone to explain that one to me.

Oh, and the cargo area mat, the one they install when you Fork Over $ 280.00 on the window sticker for the "Preferred Premium Accessory Package", is light grey while all the other floor mats in your new car are black, and the cars interior color is Not Grey, Not Black but 'Bisque'. I get the impression that a lot of people at Toyota must be completely color blind, or think their customers are.

. . and though Toyota must have an inexhaustable supply of Black Floor Mats . . . . you still can't order the car with a Black Interior . . . . probably because they'd then have to give you white floor mats, otherwise they might actually 'Match', and we could Never ALLOW THAT.

You just Can't Make this stuff up !

Because black matches with most things (remember when our TVs were black [mostly silver now but you can get them in black frames], phones were black, couches were black etc etc).

Also, a dirty black carpet mat doesn't look as dirty as a beige carpet mat.

The cargo area and headliner (including the pillars) are light grey regardless of interior colour (bisque, misty grey or dark grey). This isn't new. Manufacturers have done this for years now (for example Mercedes Benz). It helps cut down the cost by having the same ceiling colour. This mostly applies to hatchbacks. Wagons still tend to have monotone colour (i.e. the cargo area will be the same colour as the interior but the headliner may still be light grey)

Right, bamboo, rice and corn are a type of grass.

Sherwood claim they are the only manufacturer left using the real wood in the dash trim. I have their kit in my 2006. They also have 2010 and up kit.

My carpet is dark grey. Wish they got it as black so it doesn't get dirty so easily. Luckily I get unlimited supply of carpet matts.

My 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland comes only with Black Carpet Floor Mats too. Of course the carpeting is also black not a light grey color. Oh, and you would be completely wrong about black carpet mats, they show every tiny crumb like it had its own spotlight. Beige is about the color of most crumbs.

I bought the Highest Priced Prius, so people who make the interior colors Not Match to save a buck, just show me how I should rethink my car brands in the future to people with a sense of the idea that at least the best model should have matching carpet and upholstry. If the Black is so great at hiding dirt, then why pick light grey for the cargo area, and why would anyone NOT want to match the black mats in the rest of the car. I'll tell you why, they didn't give a rats patoot about how lousy they look, when nothing matches. Grey Crapet, Beige leather seats, black floor mats, except where the floor would be most likely to get filthy, the cargo area where they put the light grey. The only thing that surprises me is that the headliner isn't plaid or polka dots.

Oh, and TV's used to look good, they had wood consoles around them, untill they went Cheapo and started selling them at Wal-Mart. If Prius came with a choice of Black leather seats, and black carpets, the black mats would be perfect. If its all so classy, as you say to have Bleck, why isn't it available ?

And lastly, People hire 'Decorators' to make their interiors in their homes " MATCH ", why would you imagine the mismatched interior colors of my Prius V would appeal to anyone ?

In my 2007 Prius Touring the interior came with grey carpets and actual matching floor mats, which looked great, so naturally Toyota put an end to that mistake when they built the 2010 Prius. The 2007 Toyota seats were available in two colors, Grey Mud, and Tan Mud. I didn't want a mud color interior, so Katzkin installed a 'Bone' colored interior leather, with matching (So Un-Toyota) door arm rests and center console to match. Everyone who saw the car thought it looked great. (its about page 10 in the photo album if you're curious)
