$9.20/gallon gas in McGrath, Alaska

    The Tundra Drums - McGrath fuel distributor: $9.20 a gallon gas blamed on low river, higher shipping costs
    Lots of other news sources have picked up on this like so it seems authentic:

    Seems ironic given how much oil Alaska produces.

    Sounds like simple supply and demand. If they want it and the only way is expensive flying then that's what they're going to have to pay.

    I did notice that they already pay $6 a gallon which is double the US average, but still cheaper than we pay :(

    This puts it in perspective! A price we Americans consider unendurable is cheap compared to what they pay in the U.K.!

    ...most places, actually. The price here right now works out to about $4.50 a gallon. And Canada has some of the world's largest oil deposits. We just shake our heads at all the US stories about the pending economic disaster of $5 gas.

    In Rome we pay 1.4 Euro for the liter which translates into $6,5/gallon. :(
