I am, so I can get a good idea of how driving differently affects remaining charge and get comparison data for judging how the battery pack is holding up on a year-on-year basis. That should be fairly easy for me because I do the same commute every day, with hardly ever a deviation.

I was, at first, thinking the first few months only, but then realized it would be a good idea to carry the data collection through the course of both a winter and a summer, to see how cold and hot weather affect.

doesn't the leaf keep a log for you? I might be mistaken, but I thought I read it somewhere. I know the tesla's keep a track of miles between charges, frequency of charges etc.

I intended to keep a driving log for gas mileage when I got the Prius. A number of folks have lifetime logs for their Prius. But I'm too disorganized. Half the time I forgot to write down how many gallons I pumped. So I decided to keep the receipts. But half the time I forgot to ask for one. I'm sure it would be the same if I get a Leaf.

But I encourage others to keep a log. :D

    Oh, Daniel!

I'm pretty good now at getting gas receipts and writing my miles on them before I reset the tripometer. But that's as far as it goes. I'm pretty sure I could do the same with a logbook and noting the amount of discharge, especially if I keep it in the car or near the charging unit.
