I knew a guy in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan who built solar ovens. He could bake bread in Saskatoon in January. Twenty degrees below zero Fahrenheit, and the sun only a few degrees above the horizon, and there was still enough heat coming off that ball in the sky to bake bread!

I find it hard to believe that a "creator" (unless he is a true practical joker) would create "as a blessing for mankind" a resource that would be discovered roughly 7,900 years after the date Bishop Usher calculated as the creation, and be depleted at most 150 years after its discovery. A brief and questionable blessing, indeed. Great for us while it lasts, but useless before about 1900, and soon to be gone.

Believe it or not, they've been doing it for 40+ years in France, and 25+ years not too far from Maine.

So, it was God that lobbied cheney to not require the additional saftey feature that most other countries require? Now it makes sense why cheney went to court to avoid disclosing who was at that secret energy meeting.

While I don't believe in god, in one way I agree with the Gov: As long as we drill in the ocean there WILL be accidents. The only way to prevent them is to stop drilling. Similarly, the only way to prevent oil tanker accidents is to stop transporting oil in tankers.

We could do both: stop drilling in the ocean and stop running tankers, if we just quit burning fossil fuel and switched to renewables. It would be expensive, but probably cheaper than continually fighting wars over oil.

Offshore rigs can be damaged by hurricanes. That would be an act of God.

Another thing that can happen is that fishes bump and chew on the pylons until they collapse. That would be an act of cod. :behindsofa:

No need to feel bad about it. It's certainly not your fault.

Can't they separate House of Pancakes from real Prius chat in "unread posts"? I don't want to see this stuff when I check unread posts.

The fish would rather move in to the prime high rise real estate.

Send a PM to Danny or the mods. It's been discussed before. I'll bet they could do that if they wanted to.

I never use "unread posts." I go to the forums I'm interested in and look for thread titles that interest me, or that I've posted in before.
