    Ok, about a month ago I received a removal request via email, and at the time I decided not to post anything about it. I felt this Li-Ion Motors thread stood on its own and I didn't have to bother commenting on it. Now that Li-Ion Motors has decided to take to the public PriusChat forums to discuss this, I am more than happy to share our email exchange:

    The email came from a gmail account.

    Congratulations, Li-Ion Motors, you have now given your negative story more attention than it ever had before.

    This point interests me: john joseph, william larry, and Smith ALL lack basic English skills. Smith refers to Li Ion Motors as his "client," suggesting that he represents them in an official capacity. You'd expect that an official representative would speak the local language. If I operated a business and opened a plant in Japan, I would hire a native speaker of Japanese to represent my company to the public.

    The posts by these people show strong grammatical similarity to the email scams we all constantly receive from Nigeria.

    And what's with this Smith person using just the one name, rather than a full name? And who ever heard of a legitimate company using a gmail account??? These guys are so crooked they won't even use a traceable email provider! For that matter, any legitimate company making a formal complaint for defamation would send a registered letter, not an email!!!

    Not likely. Have you ever wondered why the Nigerian scams NEVER contain coherent grammar? These guys are the trailer trash of internet crime. They're never going to clean the junk out of their yard.

    The problem is that there are people who want SO BADLY to believe that Miss Mary Morgan, 26 years old and dying of cancer in the Ivory Coast, is going to give them twenty-five million dollars, or that someone is going to sell them an electric car that goes 400 miles on a charge, that they will overlook the most obvious indicators of fraud.

    Their posts should be deleted because there WILL be lurkers who will believe them in spite of all the evidence, and Li Ion Motors will get suckers to give them money.
