I helped swap the traction battery:

I've also spoken with David Taylor, the owner, and I'm impressed with his work and attention to detail.

Is there something specific? I would recommend sending them an e-mail and/or giving them a call. They answered my questions.

Nothing that special. I talked to him over the phone, and might drop by on my way through the state on an unrelated errand. Just to have a look. I'm planning on going with them, as I am within driving range and shipping won't be an issue. I'm hoping to wring 150K out of the first traction battery, and end up with a wheels-fallen-off electric hooptie from which I will likely get more for the battery than the car.

Would you consider interviewing him and maybe taking some photos of his shop? I know Danny and the team would love to have someone visit and document David's work.

I would more than consider it, I'd love to try. It would make me more knowledgeable for sure. What might happen is that I would be dropping by sometime in the first week of june. I can't swear that he would be able to accommodate my schedule, but I have my trusty Olympus digital camera, and would welcome a list of interview questions/things to photograph.

For what it's worth, I'll relate my experience.
I'm new to priuschat. 2 weeks ago I became the proud owner of a brand new (it's brand new to me) 2002 prius with 169000 miles on it. I bought it from Taylor Automotive. It has their Re-involt battery, a rebuilt transmission, and a rebuilt inverter, all work done by Taylor Automotive. David and his wife, are very nice people. David knows more about hybrids and in particular, the prius than anyone I have ever met! After meeting them, I wasn't worried at all about buying my new high mileage car. If my prius ever does blow up, I'll drag it 100 miles back to Taylor Automotive. David's shop is the only place that I would trust to work on my new prius. Thanks

Can you share the source for the $800 batteries? My wife's 2002 Prius EV battery just died and I'd love to find batteries for $800 and rebuild it myself.

Go to car-part.com and search for one battery from a 2004-2009. Then buy 10 modules on ebay to complete the set.

Alternatively, buy reclaimed modules directly from ReinVolt on ebay and fix only the bad one(s).
