I was sitting in the turn lane on my way to get some lunch and a guy pulled out of the gas station in b/t two cars and smashed into my rear door and wheel area. Then he sped off! My car is at the Toyota dealer but I noticed when I open the rear door it doesnt close properly and the frame inside the door is all bent to heck and back. Luckly I am ok but I don't think my Prius is.

Sorry to hear about your accide.....incident (doesn't sound like an accident, sounds more like Driver error followed quickly by Driver lack of want to own up and show responsibility).

Glad to hear that you are OK. Sorry that some people are such j*rks.

Major bummer. Did you get a plate # or anything? Sorry about the carnage.

Nope happened so fast I didnt even get the guys plate. It was a really old honda, gold that hit me :( I wonder what geico will do about the repair since the frame around the door was all bent. It was bent so far it was rubbing against the rear tire. Can these unibody cars be safely repaired?

One more thing, the red triangle with a ! in it was on in my dash. I wonder if that is normal after the prius gets in an accident, or maybe the battery was damaged?

Glad that you didn't get hurt!

If you know the exact time and reported this to the police,
you could have the police check with the gas station. The
perp might have charged his/her fuel, and then they can
find his/her identity from the charge card. It is a crime
to leave the scene of an accident, so I would think
that the police would be willing to dig a bit.

Sorry about the situation. You may want to start shopping for a 2010. IMO sounds like you may have been it hard enough to total the car.

This is a great piece of advice, and one you should follow if youre serious about catching this guy. I cant help but think that the guy at the gas station will be clueless however. Still, gotta try.

Go immediately to the gas station and get a copy of the surveillance tape as soon as possible before they get it erased. Also talk to a lawyer in case the gas station will not give you the tape and let the lawyer get it for you.

Service stations in the UK have surveilance cameras to catch non-payers. If your gas station has something similar it could help.
