Justin do not suppose that a need for thanking flows only one way. You have provided an example of a stout response to medical problem. Besides being personally inspiring, it may provide an example when one of your readers here meets someone else who has stubbed their toe to some degree, and needs to be cheered on.

"Why, I know this guy... (etc.)

BTW did not your avatar photo used to show you working?

I've been gone all weekend but I'm resending you my addy RIGHT NOW! I don't want to miss out on those cookies!

I'm sorry your father is in a rough spot right now. I wish him the best. Your job is to help fill him with good reasons to keep up the fight! :)

I guess I didn't think of it in that way D. If my story can help even one person with an early diagnosis or to aid in their fight against an illness or life in general then I would do it all over again. :)

    Save me some!!!

Thanks Daniel. :) No rest for me though. I never took days off unless I was in the hospital or during my 6hr infusions (I made those days up though). I cannot afford to take time off nor do I have sick days or vacation time built up. I will have to miss 2 days of work this week but I'll be in the hospital till Monday and back to work on Tuesday! I think if I sat at home too long I'd start feeling sorry for myself. The world will not stop and wait for me to heal so I gotta keep on keepin' on as Joe Dirt says.

Unconfirmed reports from a reliable source are that the most recent operation was a success, and Justin hopes to return to work next week. The hospital stay was six days, with more rest and recuperation at home since then. Not the preferred form of R&R, I'm sure, but necessary nonetheless.

    Hello my friends,

The surgery was successful although it was a lot more difficult than I expected. I had internal scarring which causes my intestines to stick together much like spaghetti left out on the counter. They had planned to access my small intestine through the ostemy hole which would have made recovery fairly easy but once they found the internal scarring they decided to reopen the incision through my abdomen (through the old scar from my first surgery). The incision was only about 6" long this time but it was rather painful because they had to cut through so much muscle.

I had planned to be out of the hospital in 3-4 days but I ended up with post surgical nausea and couldn't hold down any food so they kept me for another two days. Once home I felt better but my frequent restroom trips prevented me from going to work and doing anything other than staring at paint on my bathroom walls. My system is slowly relearning how to work and I can leave the house without fear....

Overall, I am feeling much better and I am back at work this week. I have another CT scan in 2 months to observe the spots on my liver. My last scan was performed when I was on chemotherapy so if the spots were cancerous then they could have been suppressed by the chemicals. Now that I am off chemo they could start to grow. If the CT scan shows no changes in the spots then they may not be cancerous and I am just that much closer to being considered "cured"!

I lost a bunch of the extra weight I had gained. I maxed at 199lbs but I am now down to 180lbs and not too happy about it. On the upside, my belly is going away and once I am all healed I can try to get my 6pack back. lol My normal weight pre-cancer was 167lbs.

Ohh, and I ate all of the wonderful cookies that Galaxee sent me! Yum!!!! :D

I come back to check the board only to find you've been hanging out at hospitals again! Glad it all went well, and also glad you are up and about. Will the scar make your 6-pack an 8-pack?

Dave, I'm probably going to hell or prison for how many documentaries I own... :p

I've been avoiding all of my emails and Facebook. It's been pretty rough and it has been hard to motivate myself to start going through the list. It sure does make me feel good to see my friends sending the messages though! :p

I figured I'd troll the hospital corridors looking for hot women but I ended up in the wrong wing this time. The hot ones were in the other wing. On the bright side, my girlfriend came to visit me every day and she is much hotter than all of the nurses! :D

The scar might hinder my 6-pack regeneration. In fact I'd be happy to get a 2-pack after all this slicing and dicing! Uggg

Well, OK then, I suppose I'll keep sending messages. Even if you don't answer.

You have many good friends who care for you very much. You don't have to return all the messages, but it will help you feel good to read them - take the laptop to the bathroom! :D

You're such a brat. Can I call you that? :p

I don't own a laptop. I can bring binoculars into the bathroom and try to read my desktop monitor though. I just need a long distance wireless mouse!

Yes, you may. I prefer it when the girls do, but that's OK. From you, just this once, I'll accept it.

I have a couple of usb extension cords you could borrow. They might work with the mouse. And if you put the monitor on the floor, just outside the bathroom, you should be able to see it quite nicely. :p

Wow. How'd I miss this saga? I thought I was busy this spring, but now I realize I have nothing to complain about. Thanks for keeping us posted and informed. Sorry I wasn't there to write a letter or send some kind of pick-me-up.

Hope your liver continues to be okay. Is this gf the Romanian still? My better half is Bulgarian and they have some stories about the Romanians (mostly good).

I need to check the bluebird houses at the local forest preserve this weekend, and prepare for a tour I need to give next weekend, hopefully this time I'll come up with some witty things to say. That's just my weekend volunteer job though, it would be fun to do that full-time, but there's not many paying jobs in that. And my computer engineering degree doesn't really help me land that kind of job.

On the plus side, it paid for a trip to Theodore Roosevelt Nat'l Park last week (badlands of N.Dakota), where we saw buffalo (sorry, American bison), prairie dogs, elk, a mule-tail, a pair of dung beetles (didn't know there were any in N.Am), lots of petrified wood and some pretty neat clouds. My son saw a blue racer which is now his favorite snake. I'm not real good with the short-grass prairie though, so I wasn't able to identify a whole lot of plants.
