I am still shopping for my first Prius. In pictures, I've noticed a shelf/storage area underneath the center console. I can see what looks like a DC power receptacle and something else next to it. What is that?

The shelf looks like the perfect spot for my Sirius radio. Where is the Aux Audio jack located?

The Aux jack is located inside the center console at the lower rear. There is a USB port located next to the aux jack.

I remember a 12V receptacle under the console but cannot remember what else. I seem to remember a blank cover. I will have to check this afternoon.

On some models, the seat heater switches are located there.

I had that blank cut out for a USB input into my aftermarket stereo. Currently have my bluetooth antenna plugged into it. I use the 12V outlet for my GPS.

We have a Model IV with solar roof.

The Aux Adapter is located in the bottom and to the rear of the console box on the driver's side. A 12 V power outlet is next to it on the passenger side.

Another 12 V power outlet is under the gear shift on the passenger side. The two seat heater switches are next to this outlet on the driver's side.

Note: Unless I missed something, there is no USB Port.

The USB port is in the console box next to the AUX jack -- unless you have an early 2010 model.

Yep, I have an early 2010 model. I got the "Cash 4 Clunkers" deal last summer.

I have my Sportster 5 right there in the spot you are talking about.

I mounted it using the plastic adhesion velcro strips you can find at Home Depot. Its totally stuck on there, but wont have any holes if i remove it later.

I actually ran the power and stereo cable up the console pretty sneakily and both are plugged into the console under the armrest. Leaves the easily accessable 12v for other things. I also put the sat antenna up on the dash right in the drivers side left corner, by tucking the wire in between a seam on the dash that goes up towards the windshield. I dont have any problems getting reception and made for an easy install!

If you use portable Nav System, where do you keep it and where do you plug it in? I use auxiliary plugs right now, for a speakerphone system/phone charger, an iPod charger, and a GPS, plus I like to have my computer plugged in. Lots of spaghetti in the front of the car that drives me nuts.

Is this where you carry stuff like this and plug it in?

I use the bean bag GPS mount from Scosche up on the passenger side of the dash, with the power running down beside the glove box into the under console tray. I plug the iPhone into the USB input on the front of my stereo for charging.

If I can remember today, I'll post a pic.

Pics as promised. God I hate the rain!

Under the centre console, you can see where I had the USB input placed. The little black thing is the stereo's bluetooth antenna. Since I only went with the single DIN head unit, I got a nice shelf where I can keep my phone while charging, and put my parking receipts for work expenses.

Under Center Gear Shift Console: 12 V plug and switches for seat heaters. - upper level includes 1 cup holder
Within the Center Console: at the lower level - an electrical plug, USB jack and an AUX Input (think it's a 3.5 mm and not a 2.5 mm jack)

I like that set up. I wasn't sure what a single deck stereo would look like in the prius, but it doesn't look bad... and I like how you get an extra storage shelf .

Part of me thinks that most cars nowadays shouldn't even come with CD players anymore. Just an auxiliary jack or direct ipod connection.
