Well, sadly in about a week to two weeks time I will part with my Prius. Some of you might have seen it here http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii-2010-prius-accessories-modifications/79568-stealth.html

I am in the process of trading in the car for a second hand Lexus GS 450H.

I think the Rattling (tried so hard to fix as much as I can but in the end I am beaten) and the Raido problem, I gave up. I just can't justify all the money for a car with some very fundamental and basic problems. Of course all cars can or will have problems but atleast I was hoping Toyota will atleast try to address or solve these issue. But I think they are just turning a blind eye.

Also I think I am geting a good deal on the Lexus. 0- 62mph in 5.9 second car I just can't resist. :)

Even with its problems I still think it is a shame to let the Prius go. But after letting go the Prius then I will probably say good bye to this forum and wish people the best of luck with their Prius adventures.

Yea, it would be great to hear what you like or dislike about the GS450H from Prius owner's perspective.

Was one of your rattles coming from the rear passenger (right) door? I keep hearing something when I backup and my car was mfgd 4/2010 so the brake recall doesn't affect it. I swear it's nothing in my trunk either...weird.

Can't justify the money, yet you can afford to lose thousands by trading it?

I lose £500 in terms of how much I paid for the car initially. I don't consider all the add ons and the wrap price because thats not the price of the car. I paid £18,000 for the car in September and they are offering me £17,500. I am trying to sell the car also myself privately at £20,000.

Well Lets say I lost £3,000. Thats nothing compared to what the Lexus have lost or what I've gained.

New Lexus GS 450H is £43,000. I think my one cost £45,000.

Now I am getting it for £23,500. 11,000 miles and also only 8 month older than my prius.

Well yeah. But the power!!! Oh my god. Test drive the car. LOL it is insane.

You always pay extra for premium. I am willing to pay for the extra lux but imporantly the fun and the power!!!

I was planning to do the project of sound proofing the Prius (a great theard here in the Audio area). But now I think I can save my energy and time and hopefully just enjoy a car and not having something to bother me all the time. Somethings money can't buy.

    Sorry to hear.
Still surprised about the issues you had. Never had either issue in either of our two Prius.
Good luck to you with the Lexus, hope you don't get any rattles there!

If you read some of the rattling thread you will see where all my rattles are coming from but I've fixed all of them through out time and last week I thought I took care of all the rattles and I was very happy.

Early this week two more rattles came to surface!! Guess where? The two seatbelt holder (thats when I thought too much) Oh come on when will it every stop I wonder. Welll I really don't want wonder anymore. As for the rattle from the back I had them last week but I took everything out of the trunk (didn't have much in there to begin with).

Actually just because of all the noise I took everything out of the car. I just wonder whats the point of having all the space when I can't really use them without annoying me.

LOL funny enough enough when I was testing driving it the drivers side leather chair was making a lot of sound. They still they will fix that. We will see. It is not a rattle but it is a very annoying rubbing sound of rubber against something but it doesn't hapeen on the passenger side.

Well I really hops so there are no rattles. I've read somewhere two people had front dash rattle with their lexus gs 450h as well but the Lexus dealer took care of it very quickly and no more problems.

Eventhough toyota and lexus are the same but you just feel you get better service in Lexus. Well I am not surprised I was the only one there in the dealer!

Well not much at all. Tried to lurk around a Lexus forum for a week but not much GS talk. Well there are no rattles when I test drive it but then again were were going around the best part of central London the most expesive part so the road are smooth. But if they do produce any I will sure take it back to the dealer.

Good thing that my bro is not associated with the Lexus so I can go back and wreak havoc on them unlike now with the Prius I have to keep quiet.

I understand your frustration with all the rattles, my car is the same way and there are some I just can't find.

Good luck with the Lexus, it's been good having you around. I hope you come back and tell us how the Lexus compares to the Prius. :)

Sure I can keep you updated. One thing great already is about the power and acceleration. I was coming out of a roundabout and slamed the gas pedal, and the car just pulled about 50m ahead of anyone else. Never had a car like this before, Absolutely amazing power and super smoothness.

And the luxuary!! I missed the memory seats. Because my wife and I share the same car (I don't drive normally on weekdays) so we constantly swap seats and I missed the momory seats. This car has three!! 9 way ajustment electronically! I missed all of those.

Ofcourse I think the Satnav is as crap as the ones in the Prius so I am not looking forward to that.

It has Mark levingston sound system (to tell you the truth I don't know anything about it and don't really care what sound system I have in the car) Usually I just listen to the radio and if not the car will be competely silent for me to listen to car car (thats why i am anal with rattling).

Refinement! Again amazing. When the Prius engine comes on you can feel it and very rough (I will miss the belt less engine) but the 450h is just another level. Even with the V6 on the car is so quiet and still.

Not the best stlying but I can live with it. Small than usual lugguage space.

Sound awesome. Does it come with sun roof? Any reason why the 450h is half price? Did you check for salvage title, etc..?

Yeah. I thought I solved the problem. My car is close to fully foamed up with Toyota anti rattling foam kits. So whoever gets my car will hmm hopefully be better off.

But this week I see no end to this problem. You know the arm rest makes creeking sound? I can't even rest my arm on it without making sound! Crazy don't you think? But it is just embrassing when you have passengers I just want to hide.

It is not really fair to compare the two cars really. They are in a different class and different price point. The Lexus is twice the money of the Prius when new so it is not a good comparison.

But for sure Prius is more pratical than the Lexus being a hatch back and all.

I had a saloon car before and although the hatch back is very pratical but drives me nuts with the noise coming from the back whenever I put anything in it especially groceries. I remember I used to have umbrellas and etc at the back of the trunk and I just leave them there and not hear anything.

Everything has pros and cons. It just a matter of which one you choose to live with. I am not rich but I am not broke so I rather spend the extra £60 a month on petrol (gas) for a 6 second car!
I missed the boy race in me the most and been drivng like a sisi for too long. Time to be the first rahter than the last.

Well I didn't check anything because this is a Lexus Dealer? An approved second hand and it is one of their loan car. So I trust them. I think I should.

Hmm well this one is well priced because it is a loan car? Its been banged around a bit with a few scratches here and there and the inside is quite dirty, however, all very cosmetic stuff, which Lexus has assured me they will get it to new condition by the end of next week. And if I am not happy with the condition I can pull out of the deal anytime.

    So we will see.

Well UKs second hand car market is a little strange. The number plate tells half the story but usually the price of the car goes with the number plate in terms of its age.

This car is a 58 plate meaning it is supplsed to be the late half of the year of 2008 so the car is considered two years old. But this car actually was first registeerd January 19th 2009 so thats only 9 months older than my car. For that price and dropping half the price I am not complaining. And also I think because it is a loan car.

Lexus already assured me there has been no accidents or anyting like that so I am confident in them. If there has been then I can hold them accountable for it.

Oh forgot. No sun roof. It is the SE version not the SE-L version which I think does come with a sun roof. Not sure really. I don't want a sun roof anyway. I remember the Acrual RL had the sun roof and I didn't like it at all. Just another part for it to rattle in the future. So I like it with no sun roof.

I had everything on this prius besides the sun roof as well.
