XM Back for More?

    I received my Package 5 ATP in November. I received the usual three months or so of trial on XM. Then it quit, except for the ad. for service. I received a couple of mail solicitations for subscriptions and then in April, a phone solicitation. I told the caller that I was not interested.

    I was driving home today, and as I passed over an expressway, I just happenned to catch on my nav screen, the re-appearance of the color-code lines indicating traffic flow provided by XM.
    Huh????, I thought.
    I then tried tuning in XM, and sure enough....it's back.
    Are they trying to entice me to subscribe again?
    Will I get another sales call soon?
    Anyone else have this happen?

    I got mine last November and thought the XM trial ends after 3 months. 7 months now and it still works. May be the trial is one year here in Canada. Does anyone knows?

    Sorry to offend you, but I don't intend to subscribe, My friend has an aftermarket GPS that gets free traffic alerts. And I would prefer to have free HD radio if Toyota offered it as an option, rather than paying for satellite radio.

    On the subject of paying for additional services....I wonder if Toyota or other manufacturer's get some kind of rebate for installing sat. radio in their new vehicles? Or perhaps monthly royalties? The same for the Safety Connect service which is provided by another vendor?
    I suspect it won't be long before they start offering sat. tv and internet?:rolleyes:

    Last week I received a few construction alerts on I-295. No sh!t, Sherlock. The jersey barriers are a dead giveaway. Didn't think to try the radio. I'll see if it works tomorrow. For the record, I don't expect to ever renew the subscription. I can listen to AM/FM & CDs for free.

    My NAVTraffic came back on as well recently. Didn't want to call and have them take it away. I have an aftermarket radio installed for audio and still have the factory piece for NAV and Bluetooth. Wasn't willing and don't think it is worth $10 to subscribe to traffic separately, but free is good. Who knows? Hope it stays this way.

    There has been a two-week free trial for everyone who has XM radios that expires today, June 7th. The Nav traffic must be part of the free trial. After today, if you don't subscribe, then you won't have any of these services. XM/Sirius had a promotion similar to this last year as well.

    So that's it. I was away on a cruise since 17 MAY, so I wasn't aware of it until the end.

    Don't you have it how they claim to be commercial free but somehow I always hear (short) commercials on most channels? Especially in channels 20-30. Hmmmmmmmm...
