I finally received confirmation from Yakima today that they have tested their racks with the 2010 Prius with the Solar Roof. The confirmation is below.

Some of us couldn't wait for the official word and just tested it ourselves, last summer...

Thanks for this. Went out and bought the right clips, installed them and found that the system seems to work very well. A solid fit with no interaction with the sun roof or the solar roof.

The bad news is that, with my bicycle waving in the breeze (so to speak), I lose about 3-4mpg. Not really a surprise but it was easier to ignore before I bought a Prius...

By the way, in case anyone is wondering...

When Yakima specifies the clips as follows:
    Front Clips/Landing Pads: Q99-E
    Rear Clips/Landing Pads: Q5-A

'E' and 'A' are the rubber landing pads. They look almost the same but they aren't. You can easily tell them apart because the letter is on the landing pad.

    To be absolutely clear: No!

    That would break the glass.

It's still nice though, since you can check the status of the load on top simply by looking up.

I have the yakima on my non sunroof, and with the rack in its proper instructed place, my hatch hits my bike holder channel. I had to scoot it forward three inches. so watch out, I believe that I have the Highroller, so for those who are looking at that particular holder, scoot your rack forward.

I do have one question... why can you not open the sunroof? will it slide too far back and hit the rear crossbar?

I just installed Q tower on my prius 2010. As you mentioned, the hatch was touching the back side of the bike holder... So I flipped the front and back and it works fine without moving the rack forward three inches. ^^

    Hey John,
Nice looking rack. Can you please give me some advise, I have the same year /model Prius and still decided on a Thule/Yakima rack for my Thule cargo box. Which once do you prefer? What is the average miles do you get with a rack and carge box? do you get less MPG in the winter time becuase now a full tank fill-ups I only get 420 used to be in the 500. Thanks for your help. Mike

Your pictures appear to show pleanty of clearance for the roof to open. I installed the Thule 480R with Fit Kit 1566 and the clearance is much tighter and my roof opened it just wouldn't close. Have you actually tried to open the roof?

It's simply not worth the risk. On those hot days when kayaking, I take advantage of the A/C anyway.

I know this is an old post but did you have any problems with the fit? I want to put my old roof back on my 2015 Prius solar roof but can't find the clips or pads.
