    Hello all,

Newbie here but I thought this was a better place for this question. I'm looking for a 2007 Prius Touring model Package 3+ with 50-60k miles/or less for around $11k (willing to go up to $12k if perfect find) with clean title/carfax/history etc.. I'm having a lot of trouble finding an actual Touring model in the Boston/New England/New York area and if I do find one online its usually overpriced the kbb. Most are labeled Touring but actually aren't. (craigslist, ebay, cars.com,carsdirect.com, etc.) I rather deal with smaller dealers but its tough to come by one. Is it worth the wait to find one? I'd rather buy an edition that handles better than not but how long should I wait? Am I expecting too much to find the perfect used Prius Touring model? Should I just look for a nice high package low mileage Prius? Thanks for your help.

Do yourself a favor and get the one that handles better. I have an 04 and the thing handles like crap. One of the main reasons I am considering getting another car, the thing goes around corners like an egg. I hate it!! Other than that, no complaints ;)

Another of your recent posts indicates your car has logged 130K miles. Have you replaced the front struts and rear shocks yet? If not, that is at least part of your handling problem.

$12K?!? Lmao. I dont know about Boston, but in CA, $12K will hardly get you an 04 base model with 150k miles. The Toyota certified pre-owned dealership near my house sells a 10k mile 09 Prius Touring for ~$23,900 + tax.

A Prius Touring under 60K miles will cost at least $17000.

So are you expecting too much? Yes.

Ha ha ha wow! 12k easily gets you an 04 with 150,000 miles. Do the KBB, an 04 with 130,000 miles (like mine) is worth exactly $7225, and I have the carpool stickers. That's at least in orange county, but I highly doubt it differs that much where you are. Now if you go to a Toyota dealer, who will ultimately rip you off by a lot of money, then maybe, MAYBE, an 04 with 150k will be 12 grand.

I agree though, you may need to look for a lower package if you want to only spend 12. For example, here is an 07 with (semi) low mileage (non touring) for only $11,900. Doubt you could add an extra 12 grand onto it because of a touring package.

Unfortunately no, the guy at the shop said that one of my back struts was really leaking, and the other was starting too also. How important is it that I get these replaced? and how much too? This is why I dislike cars with high mileage:eek:getting antsy....;)

I have 90,000 on my black 07 touring and your going to have to pry it from my cold dead hands. The car is amazing. Good luck finding one you won't be disappointed.

If you like handling get some good performance tires, it makes a huge difference.

Thanks desertrider for backing me on the price. The kbb for a 2007 with 50k miles and package 4+ in EXCELLENT condition is still only $15k. I've done my research and I know 12k is not a lot but I think(hope) I can find one. There was one sold here in May for $11.9k with 60k miles on it. Any other POSITIVE suggestions? I'm not looking at a certified car or looking at big dealerships that rip you off. I also know once you had a higher package when they were new, the Touring edition was only a couple hundred more.

No problem, I know NO ONE would pay 12 grand for a Prius with 150,000 miles on it. Keep in mind that (I think) KBB says 5% of cars qualify as "excellent" condition, most are in good. Just keep that in mind, so they may actually be cheaper. But I think you will maybe be able to find one, like anything be patient and if it's meant to be something will come along. Good luck man!

Well, if you replace the front struts and the rear shocks you may find that your car's handling will be improved. The importance of improved handling is something you'll have to assess.

The cost of doing this job at your OC Toyota dealer will probably be $2K.

Dude, are you on crack? I bought my 2008 Pkg 3 Touring for less than that NEW. ebay, autotrader, cars.com are your friends. OP: Car market is still terrible, you have leverage.

Well, I just took home a Red 2007 Touring edition with 61k miles for $13000. It was wasn't 12k like I asked but it was close. Oh and its package 3 with the leather:)
