On the gen III Prius the owner's manual states that the delay for the car to automatically turn off the headlights can be changed from the default of 30 seconds to 60, 90 or zero.

Does anyone know if this can be done by the owner, and if so how do you do it?

I would prefer not to have to take it to the dealer for this if possible.

I'm not 100% certain, but believe the dealer needs to make that change.

However when I had the dealer change my reverse beep and two other items it took all of five minutes to hook the laptop up, change the three items and then unhook the laptop. So no big deal. you could call ahead and set it up or just do it on the next service.

Ok, I kind of thought that was the case. I'll probably do just what you suggested and have the dealer do it the next time I get it serviced.

You can change the reverse beep and seat belt beeps with a scan gauge, unfortunately not the headlight off timing.

It would be great to see a software update to make these owner customizable.

Bought a Prius V 5 days ago; dealer wants $50 to reset headlight delay off time,
and turn off reverse beep. I have a scangauge, so I can mute the reverse beep, but does anyone know definitively how to change the headlight delay off time.
What tech bulletin must I access to find this information.

I agree, you should contact your salesperson or the sales manager to ask again. IMO they should make one time adjustments to your preferences.

Thanks PC for commiserating, actually I ringed off (hung up) on the tech
when he told me he would charge $50 for customization. I had just paid
    $28150 for a Prius V three, plus $1349 for 7/100,000 warranty.P
Got my trusty scangauge from the motorhome, did the beep once xgauge fix, (didn't initially realize I had to set the RBS (reverse beep set) as an active gauge).
Opened the Prius V owners manual to chapter 6.2 - customizable features.
It says, see "Display Audio System" manual, or Navigation manual. (depending
if you have a Prius V three or five). Hop back in the vehicle, hit settings; note:
the vehicle must be ready to see the Vehicle setting box. Scroll to the last vehicle settings and voila', select the zero delay time.
    Customization done - Thanks Priuschat.
note: My surname is Pruis; had it a long time, yes, it's an anagram.
