I have it (all three parts). I'd tell you what it is, but the Central Scrutinizer won't let me.

    Starship actually sounded great tonight.

No Gracie... Mickey Thomas, yes... I think he's the last from "Jefferson Starship" days..

Hell, they even sang "White Rabbit"... not that well, but they did.

Mostly, they just sang the "greatest hits"... pretty darned good, too. It was great.

That's just weird! -- I thought it was going to be the old bluegrass song Waterloo.

"... Little General Napoleon of France
tried to conquer the world but lost his pants
met defeat, known as Bonapart's Retreat
and that's where Napoleon met his Waterloo.

    Waterloo, Waterloo,
where will you meet your Waterloo?
Every puppy has his day, everybody has to pay,
everybody's got to meet his Waterloo..."

I have a plush toy monkey hanging on my organ. I didn't have it yet when I made the YouTube videos.

If you have a plush toy monkey hanging on your organ, you don't need a girlfriend!

Hey let's not be talking about our organs here. Or plush monkeys for that matter either!

I really like my organ. It's hand cranked and a lot of fun. Most people who watch the video agree. Have a look. Yes, you CAN watch the video when your grandmother is looking over your shoulder.

my father in laws organ was so big, they had to take the front door off the house for him to get it in. he's gone now, but they've preserved it in the living room in his memory even though no one plays it anymore.

when i went there for dinner to meet my future wife's parents, it was all the talk at the dinner table. needless to say, i was feeling quite inadequate on the drive home.:(

I don't remember a thing before the Beatles and Rolling Stones. There was some Beach Boys and Simon and Garfunkle, but not much - a pretty white musical background, to start.

I didn't know that at the time. Music owes far more to its roots than is generally admitted. Eminem - the white rapper - sang "I am the worst thing since Elvis Presley to do black music so selfishly, and used it to get myself wealthy."

Motown came after rock and roll, or at least it's beginnings.

This is the stuff of an undergraduate level course in musicology.;)

Rock 'n roll did not at some point in time pour from radio speakers
fully formed. It evolved from it's predecessors, including but not
limited to; swing, doo-wop, hill billy, blue grass, country, the blues,
jazz. It has deep in its heart and soul fundamental connections with
African, African-American, and Latino rhythms and phrasing.

I've searched the web for a good single cite summary, haven't found it.

But doing some 'net research using "history of rock and roll" would be
    a decent start.

And don't forget, N'orleans, Volt/Stax/Atco Atlantic with the Memphis and Muscle Shoals influence. Sam and Dave, Al Green, Booker T and Steve Cropper.
