I got a booklet of coupons from Toyota on the free 2 year maintenance program. Mine says oil change at 10K with synthetic oil. I bought the car April 30. I checked with the dealer since my manual still says 5K. He said the 10K number is correct. I will do the tire rotation at 5K.

Lotsa stuff on here about oil changes.

I had a gen II for 5 years and did all of my oil changes myself since it was so simple. Now on my 2010, like everyone else I'm being told that it's 0W20 synthetic every 10K. Okay fine but when I get under the thing to locate the oil filter all is see is plastic sheet protectors. So can anyone tell me just where the filter is? Are any of you doing your own oil changes? The dealers here want $100 plus to do an oil change and that's agonna be a last resort for me.

You might want to do a 'search'. There are many forums addressing that topic.

My dealer told me that they would cover the 5K and 10K and after that every 10K miles.

Has anyone been given any static about having to have the service done specifically by the dealer named on the coupons?

I'm getting a lot of grief on other issues when I take my 2010 Prius in for service to any dealership where I didn't purchase it so I can sure envision my local Toyota service departments telling me that I have to go to the dealer listed on the coupons.

When i bought the car the financial guy told me the coupons are issued by Toyota Financial Services and that they can be used at any toyota dealership.
