Just got the heads up from my dealer, our build to order Prius has finally gone into production and will be in the UK end of august. Yeah can't wait....Oddly the dealer then still has to do the styling pack, DAB, JBL Speaker/Sub/Cabling upgrades...

So, soon, no more gas guzzler for my wife...

Awesome, congratulations! But the wait must be torture I bet!!!

I was so lucky to be able to buy my Prius only 5 days after we decided we needed one. the dealerships here in Florida had a huge inventory with lots of cars exactly the way I wanted it.

Yes it has been a long wait...So long that we nearly went for a LR4 ;-)

Problem is that with our specification no dealer in the UK will keep it in stock. I always find that strange, but the LED headlights were a must so we had to wait....

    Ready for a change.....

yeah, I am not quite that picky :). Instead, I am a big believer in instant gratification:baby:

But I see your point, the wait will be worth it for sure!

You lucky ducks! In the US there is no such thing as "made to order", and we often must scrounge or wait for the car we want. Weird and annoying but true.

Hmm there is a quarterly limit set in the UK....But as dealers aren't preordering I guess that leaves the room for customers to specify it how we want and order in specifically...

I noticed you have ordered the iPod integration kit. You do know that the UK version of this is next to useless? Makes the iPod look like a 6 CD changer, and gives you naff all control over what you play.

US version is totally different, and gives you total control.

This is all based on what I have read, and not personal experience.

Yes that is what I've read as well....Unfortunately no dealer has got it available to try out for myself, so I am happy to take the risk...

As I understand it the iPod integration with the 40GB HDD Sat Nav system shows up indeed as a 6 CD Changer, but that actually means 6 Playlists at a time, and then you can scroll on to the next 6 CD's (oddly still numbered 1-6) for your next 6 playlists...

The way we use iTunes is all playlist based, everything is with full meta data etc...So hopefully it is not so bad compared to people who don't organise their music in playlists....

Regardless of which under UK law the system has to be fit for purpose so if it really is that bad we can have some interesting conversations.

But yes thanks for the heads up....

Did you 'pre-order' from a web page or a paper form?

The reason I ask is I'm keen to have the accident avoidance system but in a more affordable car. I'm just curious if it could be ordered in a bare-bones Prius in the UK?

That option is not available at all in the UK. Paper form and within the dealer, but matching/beating online prices ;-)

I placed the order in early May. Longest I have ever waited for a new car, purely due too led lighting as the base models were on limited availability.

Can't wait, but gives me more time to work up a cunning plan so I can use it more. Just wish they did a 2+2 coupe or convertible for me ;-) the Honda crv just doesn't do it for me.

Ahhh... well at least you can get the LED headlights (as opposed to those who ordered them early).

    CR-Z you mean?

What is the subwoofer upgrade like/situated? it's not actually pictured in the brochure...

Sounds a lovely car, I didn't think the spirit was worth the extra over the 4, unless you also then added the lights pack, but then it's just tooooo expensive. did you not go for leather as well?

No idea what the sub is like they didn't have a demonstrator with that option. What I did know is that my wife didn't like the tinny sound from the standard setup, and I got to keep her happy ;-)

No we didn't go for the leather. I think we have both had leather in our cars for the last 15 years and am really starting to dislike it bar the recaro seats in a golf, and the comfort seats in my old BMW 750. Firstly I really don't like the look of the leather in the prius, I think it looks cheeps and nasty (my opinion of course) but also the seats are quite flat and not really shaped, based around the test drive for a day and our slim frames ;-) we were slipping and sliding constantly. I wish they did part leather like the audi sline models. No for us it was not worth the money for the upgrade as it would annoy me looking at it every time. Guess we've been spoiled in the past as were are downgrading.

Cool so how is the jbl? And does the dab work ok? And hopefully the led headlights were worth the wait!

Where are you from that you get mileage allows based on engine size?

Hi JP - it's jont from the avforums ;-) ... be interested in catching up on how you get on ... been to the dealer today trying to spec our t-spirit and are still looking at 12-16 weeks for led light and solar pack !! ... concern is that it rolls over to Jan and we get hit for the 20% vat - eeek !!

Oh and they can't give a pcp finance price on a car that's set to deliver after 30 sept as that's when the current finance campaign expires ...

I find it hard to understand why they make it so hard to take my £25,000 !!

Hi Jon...Good to see you here :)

It is amazingly hard to separate and order isn't it...Compared to all the luxury cars we have had from new, this was the longest wait and the most difficult to order...Not to mention those pricey options you are looking at as well and no test models....

I still can't believe we ordered the pricey JBL sound upgrade without a listen...In Audi when I asked about the B&O system it was no problem shall we go in this car ;-) No dealer got the LED pack either which I would have thought is a popular option, especially to us/those that are down/greensizing from luxury brands....It was about 3 weeks ago that in an IBM car park I spotted one with the LED pack and found the owner and it is definitely worth the wait...

You are brave going for the solar...I so wanted it but didn't want to downsize the wheels ;-) Still regret it in a way....

I'll let you know when we've got it...It will be ready on 1/9....
