I'm located in South SF Bay area, and there is a 2010 Prius III with Nav + Solar Sunroof pkg. It is on the road for 7 months or so, and milage is 5k+.

It is selling at 23k. Is this a reasonable price?

How do I make sure the car is in good condition? Do i need to ask to have a mechanic to check?

    thanks a lot!

Sounds fair to me, but my guess is as uneducated as yours.

I think you could pick up a new prius with that configuration for about $27000 otd.

Offer them 21. The nav sucks, and you don't need the solar sunroof.
You can get a new III for about the same coin.
Search the "prices paid" thread here...

Why are they selling it? That would be my first thought, assuming it's a private sale.

The seller is moving back to India. I'm not set on buying it yet. I have a choice of buying a new one with less features as well.

The used 2010's that I've seen here in the San Francisco Bay Area don't seem to be much cheaper than new ones. Keep in mind that in a couple of months the 2011's will be available. Dealers in this area seem to have a lot to choose from.

That is a freakin good deal if the reason for selling is true. 4k off for just being 7 months old. Peace.

yes its a pretty good price, but still offer less and see if they'll take it.

...as far as the condition...its still still under warranty so everything should be covered as long as its not a salvage title car...call a dealer with the VIN and he will be able to tell you.

    Thanks.

I ran carfax on the VIN and it is 1 owner all along. what the seller claims matches exactly what carfax tells me. The seller and I went to a Toyota dealership today, and did a multipt inspection, and took out the brakes to check as well. they also upgraded the sw for the ABS brakes (aka sudden acceleration issue). Everything looks good except from some scratches and rock chips on the front bumper.

I've got the price down to $21.5k and i'm taking it tomorrow. wish me luck!
