Crash Data Suggest Driver Error in Toyota Accidents:

By MIKE RAMSEY And KATE LINEBAUGH

"The U.S. Department of Transportation has analyzed dozens of data recorders from Toyota Motor Corp. vehicles involved in accidents blamed on sudden acceleration and found that at the time of the crashes, throttles were wide open and the brakes were not engaged, people familiar with the findings said."

I spent 20 years as a programmer. I lived by the motto:

"So far as we know, we have no undetectable errors."

Toyota is in the same boat.

Mr Runaway Car: I stepped on the brake pedal and it felt mushy and went to the floor and the car accelerated, the harder I pressed it, the faster my car went and I wet my pants.

Average 16 year old: Dude, you were stepping on the throttle pedal.
