    Hi everybody,
I promise I searched forum before starting new thread:)

I just got my new Prius 2 weeks ago.

Do I need to wax it already, or can I wait 6 months,
assuming it was waxed after production sometime?

I always use Zipwax when I wash, hopefully that's not
harmful----there are so many warnings nowadays about
    so many things

You car may or may not have been waxed by the dealer during the PDI process. Even if it was waxed, you can be sure it was something cheap that won't last very long.

I always wax my new cars shortly after taking delivery.

If you are going to take care of the paint and was it every few months, then products like Zipwax just get in the way. Just use any brand name car wash without added wax.

Now is a good time to wax at although with modern paint, waiting 6 months won't hurt.

If you loose your enthusiasm and stop taking care of the paint, then a product like Zipwax is better than nothing.

There are are a bazillion car finish products on the market and a bazillion^2 ways to use them and a bazillion^3 urinating contests on the intertubes about which is best. The important thing is to pick a reasonably good protectant, be it a wax or synthetic sealer and actually use it.

    Great responses, thanks alot,
I'm off tomorrow, may go shop for a quality wax.

I'd rather pay someone else to do it,
but I don't know someone I'd trust to touch it :)
    It's only 2 weeks old.

You are a wise woman. If you wax or seal it early and do it every few months it's easy to do by hand and you won't have some shop simian with a power buffer taking off your clear coat bit by bit.

Did you get a bottle called TOYOGUARD with wax liquid in it? That could be a good start for waxing.

I recently applied it and I think th ewhite paint looks shiny now

    xs650 nailed it! :)

Since you don't mind spending a bit of cash to keep the car looking nice, I would highly recommend a quality clear bra to protect the hood and bumper area from rock chips. I wish I had done it year ago. :(
