Take a vitamin supplement. Drink plenty of water. Get plenty of sleep (plan on more than you normally do).

And pack tons of dayquil for your trip!

Mass doses of Vitamin C seems works for me. If it doesn't stop it usually helps me to get over it quicker.

Dr. Robert Cathcart used to classify colds/flu by how many grams of vitamin C per day were required to relieve symptoms. I've tried a teaspoon (4-5 grams?) every 2-3 hours, so I guess he would call that a 30-gram cold. Nobody goes to a doctor with a 30-gram cold, but they do with a 50-gram cold. You have to match the dose to the severity of the cold. Too little and there's no benefit, too much and you get loose stools. I suggest a level teaspoon, see if you feel better, and repeat when the symptoms return after a few hours.

Dr. John Cannell (Vitamin D Council | Understanding Vitamin D Cholecalciferol) was giving vitamin D with his patients when the flu swept through his hospital. Just about all the patients at the hospital were sick, except for his patients on vitamin D. It wasn't known at the time that vitamin D was the protective factor, but was discovered after the fact. I think the dose was about 1000 IU daily. There is German research that indicates that 50,000 IU per day for 3-4 days boosts the immune system significantly, and can be used to mute colds/flu. Be sure to use vitamin D3 (not D2), and limit the 50,000 IU doses to a few days unless you have blood tests to monitor for excess calcium. Another scientific vitamin D site is GrassrootsHealth | Vitamin D Action - GrassrootsHealth | Vitamin D Action .

    HAHAHA

I'm not fat (6'0" 210-215lbs)... just trying to cut. Right now i am at 196lbs. Seeing an old friend i haven't seen in a while and trying to hook up with the ladies while i'm there too.

But back on topic I usually drink a lot of water each day. Sleep has been lacking and i'm not sure why.

    Thanks for the info RobH.
