ABG: AutoNation warns its Chevrolet dealers to sell the Volt at MSRP or else...

What does it really mean anyway. If the dealer put add-ons, they can (over)charge extra. Say, they throw in all-wather mat and charge $1,000 extra. Buy it or leave it.

 

AutoNation? So ... what are they ... maybe 1/20 of 1% of all Chevy dealers? It'd be like the local Norm Reeves dealership (both of them in 2 different cities) here, giving a warning. Better than a hot stick in the eye one would suppose.

Since each dealership will likely only get 2 or 3 at most ... doesn't really mean much ... not untill the Volt actually goes to high production. The first year? GM's already promised low production, if at all.

Ah, but if a customer walks into another dealer, and the dealer asks 20K markup, customers will say "screw you. I'm going to an Autonation dealer."
Autonation may only be 1/20 of the market, but market factors like what I just mentioned can have a huge effect on overall "market price."
