I’m the second owner of a 2008 Toyota Prius (Package II) with 23k miles.

From the e-brochure of the 2008 Prius I’ve seen the different packages from that year (source: eBrochures)

I believe I have bought the 2nd Generation Prius with package II.

I see to be able to find the options from Package #1
    - Cruise control
    - Heated outside mirrors
    - 15-in. alloy wheels with trim rings
    - Tonneau cover
    - Seatback pockets

And also the options from Package #2
    - AM/FM CD with six speakers, auxiliary audio jack and MP3/WMA playback capability.
    - Smart Key System
    - Backup camera
    - Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)

In the 2008 Owner’s Manual I see a number of options that are recognizable in the manual as having the notation “if equipped†and I wonder if I have the following options:

    a) Do I have a daytime running light system? I do see a sensor all the way on the left near on the dash near the windshield. I also know that when I leave the headlights on when I turn the car of, the lights will go out as soon as I open the driver’s door.

    b) Do I have the Alarm system? The 2008 Owner’s Manual does mention some one indicator light is supposed to stop from being “on†to “blinkingâ€. I see that there is a “Theft deterrent system – Immobilizer system†(p. 81) and a “Theft deterrent system – Alarm (p. 84 of the 2008 Owner’s Manual). I understand that the Alarm will go off when, for instance, the hood is opened while the car is locked. How can I test if I have the Alarm without breaking in to my own car?

No daytime running lights for the US vehicles. The lights going out when you turn the car off and open the door is normal.

To test the alarm roll your window down, lock the car, keep the key fob away from the car and try to open the door from the inside. The alarm should go off.

To test if you have glass breakage sensor do the same as above but get something that you can hit and make a loud sound. Do this next to the open window.

US Prius do not have DRLs. You can however turn on your headlights and never turn them off. Gen II Prius will turn off when the driver side front door opens, Gen III either front door works and there is a stock 30 second pause, the dealer can make this 0 seconds, like Gen II.

During the day I adjust the dash wheel up to no dim, at night I tip it down to dim.

All Prius have the immobilizer system. Some also have an alarm system. Do you have a panic button on the key fob?

Well, there you go. The glass breakage sensor is an option. You might have it, or might not. Some people like it, others wish it would go away.

By the way: you are saying that if I have the panic button, I have the Alarm?

I've just did the following test:
    But I heard no alarm...

Try locking the car and keep the key FOB away from the car for at least 30 seconds. Try a whole minute and keep the key FOB about 50 feet away. Dont bring the key FOB back when you try to open the door from the inside. It should go off. At least I think it should.
