    Hi all,

I live in the kangaroo infested Australian bush and after having had to get rid of my Gen II due to after effects of a roo strike I've had it and purchased a FLIR system along with the new Gen III.

Now I need to figure out how to get to a 12V lead as well as how to get the cabling through the firewall.

Does anyone have some pictorial guides on where the appropriate releases are to lift the dash so cabling can be hidden, and where to connect to power etc?

Remember this is Australia, where any auto electrician will ruin a Prius, they can barely fit a sub woofer to a Holden...

Cheers and thanks for any help!

Excellent pointers, thanks for that! I'll post some pics of how I install it in the car.

    Cheers

Okay, you have my curiosity up, what's a PathfindIR FLIR? This some sort of laser guided kangaroo irradiation system? Will it work on armadillos?

Indeed... but seeing them at least gives you a fleeting chance!

The only reason I'm now driving a Gen III is because the last two kangaroos that ran into my car managed to stuff up the inverter cooling system beyond repair. Electrical faults were starting to happen and Toyota was unable to diagnose, let alone repair it. They offered a good trade in deal with close to 0 percent finance, so that was a no brainer really.

I tested the FLIR yesterday, now I need to find a 12V power point inside the engine compartment that is coupled to the ignition switch. Does anybody know where I might find such a thing? I'd assume there is one inside the fuse compartment?

    Cheers
