I've had my 2007 Prius for about five weeks now, and am loving it-- until this week. I installed a DICE Mediabridge shortly after getting my Prius, and after some initial issues, it was working beautifully. Earlier this week, however, the music from my iPhone suddenly cut out while in USB mode (though it continued to charge). I turned the stereo off and on again, and it started working again for 20 seconds or so, before cutting out a second time. This has repeated ever since, though I can continue to play music via Bluetooth instead. But this is a side issue. On the same day, or the following day (I can't remember, now), I got home from work and found I couldn't use the fob to lock the doors of my car. The red light flashed on the fob when I pressed the button, but nothing happened. I assumed it was the battery, and so replaced it, but that didn't work. The car still drives and everything else works, but I cannot use the fob to unlock/lock doors. So: could these two things be related? And, if so, what's likely to be causing the problem? I have the car booked in to be looked at by my dealer early next week, but I'd really rather have an idea of what the problem might be ahead of time, particularly if it IS related in any way to the Mediabridge (which doesn't make sense to me, but I'm leaving it open as a possibility, just in case). Any help anyone could give me would be very much appreciated!
I don't know this Dice MediaBridge product. However, I suggest that you disconnect it and restore your car to its prior condition, then see whether your problems still exist. If yes, then your dealer tech can work on the problem without concern about "third party" products being installed. If your problems go away, then it will be obvious that the Dice MediaBridge caused the problems, perhaps by interfering with the network used by the various ECUs to communicate. That will allow you to save the diagnostic fee that your dealer's service department will otherwise charge you. Good luck.
Make sure that you haven't accidentally turned off the SKS. There is a small black button under the steering wheel that will do this. Tom
I'm having a similar problem, and am very interested in the response you posted. However, could you please explain what the SKS is?? Thanks!
SKS = Smart Key System. On the Gen II Prius, the SKS has a disable button to turn it off. Your profile says that you have a Gen I, which means you don't have the SKS. Tom
