I'd posted an earlier pointer to:

You might send a PM to 'hobbit' who lives in the Mass. area and knows a lot of folks in that neck of the woods. He may have some thoughts.

I almost forgot: Jeffrey Denenberg lives in Conn. I'll send him a note and ask him to either PM or send a reply. Actually Jeffrey is a pretty skilled Prius owner in his own right with more than the average skills and background.

    GOOD LUCK!

Since the OP is in the business of selling reman traction batteries, I would assume that the customer's Prius needs to have the traction battery replaced.

Perhaps, but I'd rather not assume.

Besides, the OP is looking for an independent shop; the HV battery can be replaced by a local dealer just as easily as by an independent shop. Neither is automatically superior or inferior to the other.

It looks like Edmunds has an "Auto Repair Shop" lookup page:

Auto Repair Shops in Hartford, Connecticut - Edmunds.com

Using "06132", a Hartford Connecticut zip code, it lists six shops and then below, 27 more. Now I have no idea if any of them are good, bad or ugly.

Doing some Google huristics, this one looks interesting:

    Talcott Transmissions & Brakes
    101 Talcott Rd,
    West Hartford, CT 06110-1290, 860-233-8259
    :: TALCOTT TRANSMISSIONS & BRAKES ::

I read a couple of nice reviews and I get the impression they are 'non-denominational.'

True. However my guess is that most Toyota dealer service depts will not be eager to install parts that they had not sourced, especially if the parts are not new.

For reference, DCH Toyota in Wappingers falls NY installed a used battery that I bought from an auto recycler. They charged $500 to do it, but I guess that just covered their loss on what they would have charged for the part.

It depends upon the dealer. Some will be quite happy to install a customer's parts, as long as said customer understands that there is no guarantee that their part will fix the problem.

Sorry to be so long getting back to this. The customer in question was totally fed up with the experience at the local dealer and wanted an alternative. I am not sure he was having any major problems yet, but wanted to prepare just in case.
Thanks to all who responded. I will research the links and post my findings.
