2010 Prius II - Where do Add an Electricle Device?

The question is what kind of power? Switched on in Ready mode or "always hot"?
Switched could be gotten from the socket in the forward section of the low-bridge console. Always hot can be gotten from 2 different places. See Judgeless post and picture for a red wire in the driver's kick panel

Matthew, if you intend to switch the fog lights from inside using one of the factory blanks to hold the switch, maybe coming off of the large white cable (as shown in my center console project - lower left dash exposed) would be your best bet. I believe that cable has the maximum amperage rating and is controlled by a breaker in the under-hood fuse box. (I can't confirm this so maybe someone here can chime in). First, disconnect the battery or locate the breaker under the hood and pull it. Then tap into the edge of the large white cable for your new "hot" line that will go to the switch on the dash. Use at least 16 gauge wire. I would use a red wire from the white cable to the switch. The other lead from the switch will go to your fog lights out thru the firewall (sorry, don't know where a knock-out area is to do that). That line goes to the fog lights and the other line from the fog lights will go to a ground under the hood (any body bolt should do it).

Note: this is general advice...I can't see your fog light parts and switches so proceed cautiously. Toyota uses "green" wires for switched power and white wires for ground leads. A red wire should indicate to any future owner that the lead is "hot".

Teakwood - thanks for that thread! Matthew, follow it and download the pdf which has some great shots of the area I'm referring to. They have also discovered other tie-ins for the power source (it's next to the large white cable I speak of). They also describe how to pass the wire to the engine compartment. Good luck.

 

1) Sorry, don't know of any here.

2) Look at page 14 bullet 5 of your warranty book. If your mod is not OEM, it might not be covered. I don't know about consequential damages to other systems if the mod is bad.

3 and 4) Try ToyoDIY.com, but it might cost you.

5) Check the pictures in the pdf...I think it shows the area for hot spots

6) I read a thread once where you stand in front of Prius with the remote and hold both the lock and unlock buttons together until you get a beep. That is supposed to change the remote to unlock all doors on one press. Do a search here to be sure about that. BTW, if you have a dealer added security system (i.e. KARR) THIS WON'T WORK!
