i tried to search for people with huge setups or something other than the typical 8' sub.

i was just thinking about adding a 10 or 12' and wanted to know if the prius can handle it. Someone was telling about how delicate the elect system is so to much stereo won't fly.

    is this even true?

I have a basslink which uses a 10". The system should be fine, though get a class D amp for efficiency. The problem with 12" subs are really the space they take up. Some have installed a 10" in the cubby over the battery, which looks great. My sub sits just behind the the left rear passenger seat and faces up.

Good luck, let us know how it sounds when you get it all installed.

I'm not sure why you would need a different battery - unless you are pushing very serious power. That said, *if* you really felt the need, I'd measure out the current battery location, go to Costco, and buy the largest (CCA) thing that will fit... They are cheap (less than $90), good quality, and have a good warranty...

For subs, there are a few *very* nice low profile drivers (~$300) that could probably be made to fit above the spare (could be built into the storage compartment - that's how I'm guessing the EU does their subs for the Prius).
