How big of a solar panel do you need to run one with a motor the size of a Sawzall?

    Rae,

Posting a thread like this in a forum filled with men that still have the hormonal rages of a sixteen year old! What were you thinking?

    Great article!

That's what I was thinking, hence the need for two: battery goes dead in the first one, swap to the second one

If it used something like DeWalt 18 volt battery packs, I'm all set. I have enough battery powered commercial DeWalt tools, I .. I mean somebody else ... would never have a dead battery

    Yeah, that's it

Well, that's a relief. Somehow I had a different mental image of needing two.

Our PV array is 7.1Kwh nominal ... or enough energy to run a 9.5 horse power pump. Now, a 9.5hp pump is strong enough to suck a bowling ball through a garden hose.

    . . . . . . . . I mean . . . . er, I imagine it'd be that strong .
    :p

That only applies to advanced professional users. It takes YEARS of training and supervision.

    Um .... what he said

Wonder if Rae even envisioned these responses when she started the thread? Especially once the PriusChat Perverts (I'm a founding member) jumped in

There are some women where 9.5 horse power just isn't enough. At least that's what I'm told. It's not like I would personally know this or anything.

There are about 4 different ways of visualizing that phrase. Think about it.
