I had a new head unit installed in my Prius II last weekend. My installer was unable to connect the center console AUX input to the rear AUX on the head unit because the center console AUX cable did not have a standard 3.5mm connector. Apparently it uses a proprietary 4-pin connector. My installer was reluctant to splice the cable without a schematic. Anyone have experience connecting an aftermarket unit with rear-panel AUX to the center console AUX cable?

You, Sir Lam, have a great question that I have not seen answered...

Clearly, one of the wiring harnesses has the pins, I haven't yet seen (with pics) which pins to connect to...

    Good Topic!

I might be missing something, but in my Prius the center console aux jack takes standard stereo mini-plugs.
If it's some kind of proprietary 4-pin connector, it apparently also accepts regular plugs, and works well.
    What am I missing?
Edit: never mind, I understand now.

Come on guys, 194 pageviews and no one has run into this problem before? Speak up! Surely I'm not the first to want to hook up the center console AUX to a new head unit.

I was going to try to figure it out (with a meter) which pins they were. But my new HU came with a USB connector so I didn't. Mini-stereo jack is so 80s. ;)

    Here you go -

The only confusing thing is the AUXI input into the radio. I believe that this is a line that is grounded (within the jack itself) by inserting a plug into the AUX jack. This tells the Radio/NAV that an AUX device has been connected.

Not sure if you are still looking for the pin information; but here it goes.

on the back of the radio unit you will see a 20-pin connector
on that connector you want to plug your aux-plug to the following pins:

after that loop pin 19 & 16 (connect them to each other with another wire) and that should give you power to your aux.

Good luck if this helps that is.
