Sorry to hear that F8L (how'd you pick that name, anyway? Seems a bit ominous).

Have they been running scans for cancer markers in the blood? I would think that should show up something even before it's seen on CT scans, but maybe it depends on the type of cancer. (I'm no oncologist, just have known a few people in that situation).

A small amount removed for biopsy is no big deal, but unfortunately this becomes a bit like whack-a-mole. I just wish there was something I could do to help.

    Best wishes, man.

Besides those publicly rooting for your success in beating this, there are quite a few who are quietly rooting just as much.

That is my general outlook even when I feel like I'm running on autopilot. I'll keep working to make the world a better place and focusing on all the great things surrounding me!

It was my racing name back in the day. It started as a license plate for my Mustang (F8LPONY), then the Trans Am (F8L2YOU), the GMC truck (F8L Z71), ETC..

They do run the blood tests but no flags came up but this could be because the tumor, if that is what it is, is too small. I'm hoping this doesn't turn into a whack-a-mole game but I guess we will have to wait and see. Thanks for the msg on FB last night. I enjoy talking restoration with ya! :) Now go check on those bluebird nests!

Thank you! Cancer research and treatments are progressing to the point where people are now surviving the disease where just 10yrs ago they wouldn't have had a chance. I read about these new advancements and I am instilled with hope and it makes it that much easier to fend off depression. I think posts like these from my friends here on PC make this effort much easier. :)

    UPDATE

I was hoping for a break after this last biopsy but the dice didn't fall in my favor. The oncologist called today and said that the pathology report was not conclusive but everyone felt that the cells they extracted were VERY likely malignant cancer cells so he ordered a PET scan to determine if there are tumors elsewhere in my body besides the liver. This will help determine if we should perform liver surgery or not. If there is coverage in other areas then liver surgery will not solve the problem. At that point I think it comes down to a quility of life decision. So I'm hoping that the areas of concern are restricted to my liver AND that I am a candidate for liver surgery. Thankfully there are new techniques to remove cancer from your liver and greatly increase your survival chances.

<sigh> I'm just tired of getting bad news.

That is indeed bad news but I've a feeling that even though you're tired there is still plenty of fight left. I wish you the best and wish the cancer cells a thorough and devastating thrashing through the miracle of modern medicine, positive attitude, prayers (if that's your bent), all the positive thoughts coming from us to you and clean living. Well four out of five ain't bad, eh? :yo:

    *UPDATE*

I finally received some good news! The liver tumor is going to be removed! It is located near the end of the left lobe and will be easy to remove. I'll go in for surgery within the next 3wks. They will do an open surgery so they can look for any foci the scans may have missed. I hope to hear from the lung surgeon this week to discuss my options with those tumors. One of the tumors is located on the surface of the lung and will be easy to remove, the 2nd one may be more problematic but we'll see. I'm just hoping they can do both surgeries at once but that may not be the case. Either way, I'm just happy I have the opportunity to have surgery! :)

That sounds like reason for optimism:rockon:

I also like the option of having the offending nasties cut out, probably my mechanical engineering background:D

14 months ago I had part of my last kidney removed and also an adrenal gland that the kidney cancer had migrated to. A bazillion blood tests and a scan at 12 months after surgery showed me clear of cancer so far. I hope you do even better.

When they cut the nasties out, you don't have to worry about whether a treatment worked or not. They are just gone! :)

That is excellent news! Did they perform and open surgery or was it laparoscopic?
