Anyone sold a Gen2 they didn't like & bought a Gen3 they do like?

I don't know how miles cycledrum has on his car but for me, I couldn't stomach the big hit from trading in or selling my 06 w/everything except leather for an 2010. Mine has only got <49K miles on it and hasn't given me much trouble.

If I were to go for a 3rd gen, I'd probably only get model II or III so I'd lose the nav system (too expensive vs. PNDs available now and map updates are too much $), 3 door SKS and touchscreen MFD and would obviously still have to pay out of pocket.

I'm not tall, unlike cycledrum, so fitting in my 2nd gen isn't an issue.

As much as the 3rd gen is a better car, my car is still fine. Until I really tire of it, it gets totaled or starts becoming really expensive for repairs, maintenance or wear item replacement, I'm likely hanging onto mine for awhile. I'm guessing I'll be waiting until the 4th gen, whenever that comes out.

It would be cool to get new, better tires on the car. I guess Ecopias are better than Integritys. And yeah, holding brake with left foot at long light helps out. I've usually got a stick shift in neutral at a long light.

I hear you about the Gen2 situation - pack 5 has 3door SKS, fancy mirror, nav, backup camera. Really tough to give those things up and pay more out of pocket. Better to just hang on and save the money.

At the end of the day though, this decision is killing you. I can read the anguish in your posts. Just do it...take the loss and get on with your life...

This is his trial, his test. Resisting is the key to winning it. Resisting the base impulse to replace his gen2!

Even if he gets it, you'll continue to read the anguish in his posts as he finds numerous more flaws with the Gen III.

I don't know about numerous. There's one glaring I see - the driver's door armrest is 3/4" lower than the center console.
Don't remember any other car I've had where I'd put a 1" slab of neoprene there.

You should get a 2011 and maybe for 2012 they'll fix that issue and you can sell your 11 and buy a 12 because finally it will be the most perfectest car ever!

Skoorb, do you ever drive with just your left hand holding the wheel at about 8 o'clock? If you use the door armrest while driving, haven't you found it to be unusually low?

When I hold 8 o'clock in the 2010 Prius, my left elbow doesn't even come close to touching the door armrest with a normal reach to the steering wheel.

Easy fix compared to building custom seats, putting in Volvo and Recaros to replace the wonderful Gen2 chair.

That said, not bent on selling this Gen2 anytime soon.

I always drive with left hand at 10:00 and my elbow resting on the door sell, this in all cars. In my van the armrest on both sides are the same height. Tonight I tried driving like that and it mostly just doesn't feel right, so my left likes to be high :) I can understand why others would want left and right armrests at same height, though, for sure.

My shoulder is about same height as the door sill, so it's door armrest for me .. or maybe I should try bisco's method :D
