why do we need a name for it? what ever it is. when i was 13 (1967) my friend and i were getting on a bus in front of an ice skating rink and a photographer snapped our picture, put it on the front page of the boston globe with a caption that read 'gay blades'. at the time, it meant something like happy/footloose/carefree. at some point, as my parents showed it to friends and relatives over the years, there were a lot of snickers and laughing. i don't remember when it took on the connotation tho.

 

Neither does 'getting rear-ended.'

You forgot "fairy". I always kind of liked that one.

It's a problem with all living languages. They change and mutate over time. Improper words and usage become acceptable and then standard. It's just how it works, but it's hard on a stickler like me.

One of my current pet peeves is "decimate". People use it as a synonym for "destroy" or "obliterate", when it is really one in ten. It literally means to kill one in ten. Ten percent is long way from obliteration.

I have a friend who calls himself a fairy - he's about 6'6", usually wears a full beard, and likes to wear kilts (real men wear kilts!).

Remember that Simpson's episode when Groundskeeper Willy was wearing a kilt outside, there was a gust of wind and the kilt blew up, and from the backside he obviously wasn't wearing underwear?

On a related topic, isn't it nice to see her actually dress up in something other than a variation of her birthday suit?. She actually looks very sharp.

 

Really? Her? Dressed like that? Sometimes I think I can tell an attractive guy from a not-so-attractive one, without feeling any attraction myself, but I'm usually wrong. Are you completely certain which team you're on?
