Thanks but this doesn't make a lick of sense:
Can any of our UK or European folks give us some links or details about this?

    Thanks,

Lexus is just a dressed up Toyota. Sometimes I wish I lived in Japan...

So an HS, IS and GS? :D haha. I know a few people from Asia wouldn't mind owning a Crown or a Mark X over a Lexus.

Ok, this works out to be ~49 ft{3} which is not bad . . . assuming the driver and passenger space are not part of this.

The 14+ seconds to 62 mph is a little slow for USA tastes but since I drive a Gen I with 13+ seconds to 60 mph, I would be OK.

Humm, I wonder if that is USA gallons or UK gallons . . . must be UK so it is looking like 42.8 MPG (USA). Still not bad for a little people and property carrier.

They are mixing up UK MPG and US EPA MPG. CT200h with 15" rim option can get as good as Prius. Prius is rated 72.4 MPG in European test cycle.

Actually that is not accurate. Lexus debuted as LExus worldwide in 1989. For whatever reason they didn't build a Lexus dealer network in Japan so Lexus vehicles were rebadged as Toyotas there.

For example cars like the LS, GS, IS became Celsior, Aristo, Altezza in Japan. They did not exist before Lexus.

Also the Aristo could be had with a twin turbo I-6 instead of the V-8 other markets got. The Altezza got an I-4 while the IS 200/300 got an I-6.

Lexus debuted their dealership network in Japan in 2006. After starting slow they are now very close to the top spot in sales there.

THe Crown is very revered in Japan (shares the platform with the GS) and has a 40 year history. As you note it is built to luxury car specs even badged as a Toyota.

About 5 years ago I got a chance to check out a Crown at the Team Lexus facility, it was a lovely car:)
