exactly. imagine what the Catholic church thinks of many of the things you were taught. and yet, both are Christian. i'm sure it is the same for all main stream religions. whatever you attempt to teach, some faction or other is going to say it's wrong. even in the same faction there are disagreements.

There is room there for gods, no gods, spirit, science, and rational thinking.

Here is my definition of "Religion": "Humankind's attempts to explain the unexplainable and and in the process, provide for a personal course of conduct to further the intent of the founder(s)."

Close, but not quite. Actually, it should be "provide an excuse to attack and kill everybody with a different viewpoint and steal all their land and resources."

Well... if you read religious books... that is said a bunch Bra...

One of the reasons I don't believe em...

On a side note... The Sioux don't think it's wrong to take what they want from a weaker man... or from any woman... unless she is part of the people of course... and the weak-minded are here to tell us something, so we mustn't try to hurt them... the fact that there are differing points of faith in mankind are one of the primary reasons for mass deaths and/or all of mankinds perpetrated genocides...

I wonder if it was a mistake to make the poll "transparent" so that selections list respondents' names: no one has yet admitted to being of islamic faith yet it ranks #2 on the global chart right behind christianity:

[ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_religious_groups]Major religious groups - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]

I would be extremely skeptical that even so small a sample as 70 would not have any of islamic faith in it.

I do find it encouraging, as noted by another poster, that fully half the respondent contingent is secular rather than sectarian (agnostic or atheist). I think we can thank the steady increase in world literacy for that, and consequent greater exposure to diverse perspectives and increased knowledge generally.

Why not have a thread with an identical poll question EXCEPT it's not public?

Four former PC members clicked on "Islamic". Unfortunately, due to current bias, an automatic script was activated that traced their IP addresses and dispatched hit teams, after which they were automatically deleted from PC. This automatic action tends to skew the displayed results.

on that global chart, you need to look at the countries under Islam. Most of those places don't strike me as prius driving regions.
i would say that most of priuschat has people from western civilization and japan.

And yet you won't watch that "Thermite Felled the Twin Towers" video. I suppose you'll claim that's only because it doesn't have any ads for Baywatch reruns. :p

No need for hit teams. A well-placed satellite or two could do the job with tiny projectiles. As soon as 'places' is well established, and Facebook is sold to the Saudis.....

    You're funny Bra...

As I recall, none of those folks wrote religious books...

But all of them did kill the opposition whenever they got an opportunity to do it... which, in retrospect, is what most of the religions of today have done to get to where they are now, some of which aren't as murderous as they used to be, others, not so much...

Sorry maybe I wasn't so clear, just trying to point out that many here are blaming religion for this behavior and yet the few non religious ones named above were atheist and probably killed more people than any religion.
