Yea, I've heard they will offer like $77 a year if you're adament about not renewing, I just don't like subscription services because they always want your credit card and then if you forget they automatically renew you at the full amount and it's a hassle to get them to refund the difference... With HD it's a one time charge and I never have to worry about the hassle again. Besides, I don't travel, and most of the benefit of XM is not have to search for new stations. I don't do that anyway...

SAT offers commercial free music. How many commercials, if any, do HD channels usually broadcast?

I have no idea, but I would assume they do have commercials being as they have to be funded somehow... I just understand HD Radio is supposed to be CD quality, and if it cuts the static from the regular FM Stations it may be worth it...

I had HD radio in my 2010 Prius both the Bestbuy $50 special and a JVC HD connected to my HU antenna input. They both sucked I live in the SF bay area and theirs not that many HD stations available and the ones that are will saturate you with advertisements. Your milage may vary. In my case it was just a waste of money.

    Jim,

Thank you for your insight into HD Radio! I guess I need to do some more research, i.e. actually find a way to listen to the local HD Channels here in Atlanta before sinking the time and money into an HD Radio set-up. hate to put that kind of money into something I won't be happy with. Thanks again...

Just FYI - your 'sat radio' package (mount, cables, module) can be sold on Ebay for $200+++

I just got a notice that my $77 subscription will expire 11/11 and be renewed for $142.45 + $21.79 royalty fee. I'll be calling in the next few days because that is not going to happen. I'll try for the $77 again. If I can't get it I'll just drop XM. I enjoy it but being retired I am just not in my car enough hours to justify that amount.

It also seems to me that the royalty fee has doubled since last year. I think I remember it being around $11.
