Fm reception has not changed from stock... still poor. No HD radio to my knowledge.

I would not accept that as an answer. I had a similar Chinese thing - and had to send it in due to bugs... One of the things I told them was the FM reception was not great.

When it came back form China, it had VERY good FM reception. I'm now running a Pioneer - which has even better reception (not a huge difference).

It's a new design, and I'm guessing something isn't tuned correctly. I think it's hard for them to test in China (no FM broadcasts)...

You should be getting very good reception.

Fyi, Rosen suggested I try a 2gb drive... no change. Also, the distortion seems to be limited to lower frequencies. I realized I have little or no control over the amount of bass in the audio. There is always too much, even with the bass turned down.

Rosen via adcmobile has been helping me troubleshoot...

Well I'm glad the OP is "overall happy" with the unit.

But I don't know how to take these impressions. Sounds like some of the negatives are pretty extreme.

Too bad, because the unit looks great.

Basicly the only REAL issue is the usb jump drive playback. If folks don't use usb play back it's a nice unit.

    Hi 10Prius,
You mentioned about the problem of using thumb drive. Are you inserting the thumb drive in usb port in back? Have you tried mp3s in SD card slot in front? Does mp3 in sd card work in sd card slot? Is the Nav SD card slot only for Navigation Sd or that can also be used for music?

I am planning to get this installed next week so any input will be appreciated.

    Thanks

Do the steering wheel buttons still work to control volume and other features?

That is the plus to all the China stuff (Rosen Fly et al).

The buttons work with no other interface (the HU just plugs into the existing wires).

As a bonus, they allow you to customize the buttons (not that you would want to - but in theory, Ch+ could be BT call answer).

Now you are getting to another China weakness - I think iPhone4 support is possibly not there (???) - needs to be confirmed.

Most China stuff has issues with iPhone compatibility - it works, artists etc - but the iphone states "unsupported device" - or something to that extent - then does not charge. Maybe Rosen has fixed this (???) - or Fly??? It does 'work' - but to me, if the device isn't charging, it's pointless (due to battery issues in general on iPhone)

    Hi 10Prius...

Do you think there is any chance you could post a picture or two at night so we could see how well the illumination matches the rest of the dash ???

A picture or two of the unit screens in operation would be great as well...

I am trying to decide between the Rosen and the FlyAudio units...
    This info would help...

    Thanks,
    Dan

I am planning to order this. Can this use any backup camera or does it require rosen backup camera only? I was planning to pick a cheap backup camera later if that works.

I have the factory installed Toyota Nav/JBL system which I am sure most of you know is a very poor Nav system at best. I would like to replace it with a good after market system such as this one.

Does anyone know if the existing back-up camera will work with the Rosen system? I am not concerned with the IPA, it isn't any good anyway, but it would be nice to keep the existing camera because it's already installed, wires run, etc.

There are pins on the factory cables with Video in - you need to find the pinout (it's been posted here a few times).

If you opt to pull your nav, you can sell it on Ebay for more than you can buy a Rosen - at worst it would be an even trade - good luck...

I was going back and forth between rosen and kenwood/Pioneer. I was almost deciding on Rosen then i searched for more reviews on Rosen and found this thread

Print Page - Rosen nav system

It seems bad. Rosen owners and for that matter any Chinese unit owner please post more experience. Did you guys experience lock up requiring reset?
I once had tomtom 920 and that locked up and required reset few times. I was so frustrated that i bought another garmin. Garmin was much cheap then so it was not a big deal. But if this unit locks/freeze up then that is enough not to buy.

I am very interested of this unit but also thinking flyaudio becasue they both looks factory. Can any Rosen owner confrim that if it is compatible with iPhone 4 in terms of charging and browse list of songs from the unit. For bluetooth, does it pull the address book from iphone and shows on the unit?

    Thanks.

I am thinking of installing a Rosen nav unit with iPod and XM radio. This thread hasn't been updated since 2010. Any news on your experiences?
