Oh My God! I just saw this...you must be devestated...Condolences. I remember when we had a similar hail event here in Orlando in the early 90's...There really is almost no place you can move where this is not a possiblity.

    Best of luck to you.

All my best for your dad I am sure he will do great

As for your car the timing sucks for sure. However my previous car a Mercedes got creamed in a hail storm a few years ago. It didn't have the broken window but the panel damage was way worse it looked like a golf ball top to bottom and they fixed with Paintless Dent Repair perfectly it was amazing.

Not stopping the heart is now the preferred method for older patients. It's supposedly not as hard on their body. The alternative method seems a bit ghastly to me for some reason. Yes, very incredible. There are not as many surgeons certified to do the non-stop method. He was fortunate to have a great one.

You've got that right!!! She does Jazzercise and runs the treadmill six days a week and is a size 4 below and 6 up top. My own personal hottie. ;)

LOL, I'll stay here. We're in the middle so we can see it coming from any direction.

The Springhill Suites near us is full of State Farm Adusters. I haven't seen a Farmers agent in the state since this started. Geico and all the others are here.

Thank you. I have a sister-in-law in Ft Lauderdale. You've all had your fun as well. I've been in Orland for a few of those "mild weather" events, but the light shows are great.:D

Thank you. I'm very interested to see how that works out if they ever get to me. I'm still waiting on a call back.

Here's an update to the hail damage saga. The Farmers Claims adjuster just left my house. I have a check in my hand for $4,077.18. They are going to replace the front hood since its aluminum. Aluminum has no memory of its shape and is just cheaper to replace when you can. They're going to try PDR (paint less dent repair) everywhere else and will adjust if that does not work out.

I had damage on every metal surface except the rear passenger door and under the lift gate. Windshield will be replaced with a Toyota (plus lane keeping) windshield. All the exterior plastic came out just fine. This adjuster said his team worked over 6,000 claims just this week alone in Oklahoma City and that's just one insurance company. They've estimated there are over 250,000 hail damaged cars in OKC alone and more in outer areas.

I also found out today that my $58,000 roof is totaled from the same hail storm. As Forrest Gump would say, "just one more thing."

I'm not going to sweat any of it. Dad is at home and doing great after his bypass surgery. He'll be driving again in a week so I don't have to make so many road trips to their town to do their errands. After all they've done for me over the years this is no trouble at all.

Life is good! I've seen what bad looks like and this isn't it.;)

    Update . . . 5 months later . . . .

I've FINALLY been able to get into a collision center shop to get my May 16th hail damage repaired. I take it in this coming Monday. Yeah that's only a 5 month wait. They tell me they have them scheduled out as far as February 2011. Final estimates were 400,000 damaged vehicles over a 7 county area.

The are going to do P.D.R. (paintless dent repair) on everything except the roof and hood. They say it is too much work so they're just going to replace it. The hood is aluminum and it can't be PDR'd so it will also be replaced.

On my house, our insurance paid for a 100% roof replacement including gutters and window screens. It was replaced two weeks ago. I replaced our window screens myself today and all the gutters will be removed and replaced next week. Scrap aluminum is at $0.66 per pound so I'll be taking the old ones to the recycle center for some $ payback.

Things are finally starting to get back to normal except you can still hear hammers pounding in the distance from all the various roofing contractors everywhere. We've been listening to hammers pounding all around us since May and it's going to seem strange once they're all gone.

It was a huge storm. It started in Northwest Oklahoma City, moved ESE towards Tecumseh, OK for a 60 mile long, 20 mile wide path.

Oh great! Repairs done just in time for all the winter stuff--YUK. Hopefully OK city will be spared the icycles this year. Keep us abreast on your saga of repairs. Hope the PDR is effective and all remain healthy.

I thought of that too. Only the roof and hood will have fresh paint which I can't wax for 3 months so I'll have to be extra diligent on keeping it clean.

I really hope we don't repeat our 14" snow fall on Christmas Eve last year and the ice storm. Fingers crossed.

Thanks! Dad is doing great. He's up to 2 miles a day on his treadmill. At 87 he's pretty amazing.

I have to say both insurance companies came through very well. I have Farmers for the car and he cut me a check for $4,077.18 on the spot the day he evaluated the car. Any overages by the body shop will be paid direct to them.

We have Liberty Mutual for the house and they did the same. They mailed us a check within 4 days of the evaluation for the roof.

I was impressed with both of them.

LOL, as some would probably say . . . but I thought it was a much better example of living down-slope from the Rockies and in close proximity to warm moist gulf air. ;)

Yeah both Farmers and Liberty Mutual are good companies.

That sucks about the wait! At least this time next week it'll be all fixed.

Only thing...you CAN do PDR on an aluminum hood, they did PDR on mine and it came out perfect. Its much more time consuming (and you have more and bigger dents than I did) so its probably more cost effective in your case to replace the hood, but it can be done.

It was still driveable so I didn't mind waiting too much. What really sucked was everyone rubbernecking as they drove past looking at the damage. It made me feel sort of like a "Walmart" person driving around.;)

    Update.

I took the Prius into the body shop on Monday, Oct 25th. (2 weeks ago tomorrow)

I got a call after a week that they had gone over everything and contacted the insurance company to approve the overage $ but that the insurance company was running behind and wouldn't make it until Wednesday (Nov 3rd). They actually made it that day and approved the overages BUT they are not going to allow replacing the entire roof and will do a mix of PDR and body work.

This will ADD 5 days to the original 5 day estimate and an extra $1,200 for a total of $4,077.18 + $1,200.00 = $5,277.18. My cost is only $240.00. Whew.

So it will be another 2 weeks before I get the car back. They will have had it for 1 month when it all done.

I hate the idea that they will have to remove the head liner to PDR the top. I can imagine gaining new rattles from that.

I'd been hearing from everyone that 1 month was typical for all the vehicle repairs around town so while I was disappointed, I wasn't surprised.

Thanks. That's how I was trying to look at it. I didn't opt for a rental and have been sharing my wife's car as needed. My insurance will pat $50 per day up to 20 days max whether I get a rental or not so I'll have that $ coming at some point. Covers my deductible and then some.

So, what is the MPG benefit of dimples in your case?
