Should we take it to Chicago this weekend? It's a trip almost a couple of hundred miles from here, and most of it is highway "Fords do your best :D" speeds.

(Just kidding. A little bit of me died the day that I had goodwill tow away the taurus.:()

Anyhow, any practical advice besides the usual?

Even thinking about taking a portable DVD system along for the ride, the kind that plugs into the cigarette lighter.

This won't cause any harm to the entire hybrid system, will it?

Set the cruise control at 65 mph and relax. Fill it up before starting the trip and then top it off at the end. Calculate the MPG. Then repeat the process on the way back. This will give you a baseline for performance.

No cruise control yet, but I thought it would be neat to get the actual mileage. Definitely this trip would be enough to figure it out.
And, the trunk is spacious enough for our luggage for the weekend.
Believe it or not, it was her idea. Guess she wants to show off the new paint job.

    Freshly painted.
P.S. Should I put the "bra" back on for the trip?

Bugs won't be bad, but I'm worried about trucks kicking rock on the new paint job.

I recall that you are supposed to wait some period of time for the paint to fully cure, before putting car covers and bras on the painted surface. Best to check with the body shop that did the job.

Indeed, they did cast aspersions on it when I dropped it off for the estimate. But, after I removed the bra, they saw why I was interested in using it (most of the paint was missing off of the bumper.)

It will be three or four days since the paint job by the time we leave on Friday, but I'd rather go by their advice, and probably not put it back on.
