The EPA test is a good valid test for car mpg. Good driving makes better mpg then the epa on you car, the Fusion, the Prius or the Sonata.

In a world where anything is possible maybe it's possible.

But in the real world? A 2nd place sonata prediction is a stretch:

"Heaps hurt" ? I don't think ford's Fusion and toyota's Prius will even notice IMO.

The Prius won't notice - I don't see anything taking the #1 hybrid crown away from that any time soon. Best competition for the Prius will be the Fit hybrid, but until Honda gets a clutch into their IMA system to let it completely decouple the engine while moving, it will never beat it.

Sonata is currently the #3 selling mid-size sedan behind the Camry/Accord with ~22k sales - but after 1st place all the other cars are pretty close.

Chart Of The Day: Midsize Sedan Sales In August | The Truth About Cars

Fusion hybrid is #3 in sales for Sept - right behind the Insight but 50% more sales than the Camry hybrid which is way down in 6th place for Sept.

September 2010 Dashboard: Hybrid Sales Slide, While Clean Diesel Continues Growth | Hybrid Cars

It's pretty obvious that the best sellers are the cars that offer very good all around packages and low prices.

Historically hybrid vehicles of the same model sell about 1/10th the volume of the non-hybrid with a bump when the car is first released.

This would put Sonata hybrid sales over 2000/mo which is good enough for 2nd place in overall hybrid sales.

I hope this car helps grow the market. Camry hybrid and hs250 will both lose more ground. These will also lose some to the lexus ct hybrid. Sonata does not compete with the prius except for price, it should keep dealers from as fat of profit margins on both the prius and ffh. I don't see insights staying at number 2. It will be prius hsh ffh insight and then maybe the lexus ct hybrid if it makes a splash.

lol... it's easier when ppl use the same name on several boards... also if they're Canadian.. I tend to remember ppl better that way... It was easier back when PriusChat was smaller but now with more people (and not to mention some screennames are similar), it's harder to keep track.
