Hi all just thought i would sign up to this forum and say Hi.
    So Hi.
Just purchased two Prius vehicles one for me one for my dad.
We bought the i-tech version 2008 model and a 2007 normal version.
I feel like we are stepping into unknown teritory but have been doing some reading here to get familiar with the vehicle.
I'm looking forward to the fuel savings and i am hopefull these vehicles will last us a long time without any major issues.
I will be using the i-tech as my daily driver. In regards to mods i will tint the windows and possibly change the wheels to something sportier. Hopefully it does not impact on the fuel economy too much.
I read the article in regards to driving the prius to get the best out of it. I found it quite informative. Now its time to put it into practice.
Cant wait one more sleep and we pick them up.
Funny thing is we chose the same color lol..
Will post some pics in the comming days if anyone is intrested.
    Regards

If your Prius is as good as mine, it is a fine car!

Good for you guys. Welcome aboard!

If you hang out here on PC you'll find loads of useful information like how to turn off the backup beeper and what mods are most beneficial. I went to the PC Shop and got the windshield sunshade, mud flaps, body side moldings and rear bumper protector for both our Priuses. I couldn't be happier. Those things protect your car and help support PC as well.

I also recommend getting the windows tinted and having 18 inch clear bra installed to protect the front of the car. The paint is pretty easily damaged/pitted otherwise. And the cost, though substantial, is probably less than custom wheels. That done, just drive its wheels off and you'll find yourself asking why everyone doesn't drive a Prius.

Well today finally came. We picked up our vehicles.
They came with a full tank of fuel and genuine car mats.
It was an intresting start to the whole prius experience. My dad and i got caught out in regards to starting the vehicles up lol. Who has time to read the manual when you just want to get in and drive.
Was waiting patiently for the ready light to come on so we could go it wasnt happening all other warning lights were on as required. Hmmmm we thought.
Called the sales rep out once again he went through it with us and guess what we forgot to push the brake pedal lol to start the vehicle. I wonder how many have been caught out by this??
Anyway i have clocked up 100kms on mine on day one and loving it. Have to teach myself not to look at the main display so often can be dangerous at times not looking in front of you.
On an even happier note i am acheiving 4.5-4.9 litres per 100kms so far which is fantastic (Reset it at the dealer before we left.)
I used to drive an 89 750il with a v12 in it previously which would burn anything between 16-19litres per 100kms.
I spent an hour with my dad going through the basics with him especially the start procedure. Made sure he could do it before i left and a few other things.

Two things i need to figure out on my itech model is how to get the key fobs to work when your close to the vehicle without pushing the lock and unlock buttons.
And how to transfer my contacts from my iphone 3gs to the vehicle. I managed to pair up the phone ok just need to get the contacts across now.
If someone can provide some information on both items it would be great. I have gone through the manual but they go through a fair bit of detail which i havent absorbed as yet.
Either way its a great car and very roomy for a small car and i love the features it comes with.

    Regards

:welcome:Sorry, don't have info for transferring your contacts, but if you press the Engine Start button once without your foot on the brake pedal, you can push it once more and the car will turn on as normal. Or, if you press your foot on the brake pedal to start with, then press the Start button, you will achieve the same result. Sounds like you have a lot of info to read and absorb....Welcome to Prius Chat!!:)

If you change the wheels to something lighter than stock, then it will actually be sportier.

If you put bigger wheels on the car, you may also want to look into tires with low rolling resistance... or at least something that offers a good mix of rolling resistance and performance. If you go all out performance, MPG will suffer.
