I hate Farmville with the passion of a thousand burning suns, but you can't blame Facebook or even Zynga on this. The lady was obviously so unstable, she probably would have done the same thing over an intense session of Minesweeper or (god forbid) World of Warcraft.

I'm not defending Zynga except to say that Farmville just happened to be what was on the screen when Psycho Mom snapped. I could see the exact same thing happening to somebody posting a reply in FHOPolitics ("What do you mean Christine O'Donnell is wrong about something?!?!?" "Oh, shut up, Joe-Bob Jr!" *smack*)

Maybe we really should have to pass a simple test to see if you are really capable of rearing a child, or you should just sit on the sidelines......

In a situation such as this, if Farmville is what drove her that point, it was most likely a short walk anyway.

To some these games on Facebook have become an addiction which leads to irrational behavior which takes over their life. What sane person would choose a game over life:confused:

hmm. ok lets blame FB or FV. but this begs the question; what part of our society is blameless? what part of our society has not forced a cracked individual to commit some horrible crime?

In reply to your words,in my opinion you are stereo typing people. Anybody who has an addictive personality would be what I'm talking about in my post.

Yes,gamblers, drug addicts,alcoholics,etc....can have an addictive personality, but so can people who don't have any of these conditions!

An addictive personality strikes people who are none of the above that you mentioned in your reply! Furthermore,in my post,I asked...."WHAT SANE PERSON?" SO, in other words, all the people that you listed in categories are INSANE?

In fact,a junkie or alcoholic would sell a pc to get the money for their fix! What you're basically saying about the story that I posted is that this woman was an alcoholic,OCD,etc......that's not true.

You have twisted this story, the words and the meaning. She was an addict that lead to the murder of her child and we must not presume that she was an alcoholic, had OCD,or any of the above that you have mentioned! Just because she was addicted to a game does NOT make her an alcoholic,etc...:focus:

    are we changing the question?

    oh, i was the one?

my comment was not directed at her at all. the thought that playing Farmville is the root cause for her actions is a bit ludicrous. she obviously had other deep seated personality issues that she most likely has been dealing with for years. it is unfortunate that her innocent child was the victim of the mother's inability to cope with her own life issues.

as far as regrettable actions we all do, there is a degree of regret that always applies. although many do not take a life, the level of regret can be and is often just as severe.

Facebook doesn't kill people. Braincells, yes, but not people.
