How come I don't see any of those text ads? Maybe Ad Block Plus is a different program than AdBocker, and does block them??? I do see ads when I access PC from my Touch, which runs Safari, but not when I use Firefox with ABP.
i run google chrome and ads i see are based on key words for the websites i visit, emails i receive, etc. and yes, they frequently are interesting enough to click on once in a while i mitigate the "irritance" of ads by opening multiple windows. (old habit from my dial-up days when pages took forever to load. since i browse here on my cellphone, i generally load at least 3-5 windows at a time and bounce from one to another while changing pages, posting, etc) i also have a "mobile phone" option in the lower left corner of the screen. cant help but notice that button seems to work pretty well for just about everything but the text on this sight
You don't see them because Danny chose not use that method (You can choose, if I understand correctly, between text-only, small regular ads, or even *shudder* video ads. All but the text-only ones are blocked by Adblock).
Not to change the subject but... I already went on record and said I don't mind the advertising. HOWEVER, I definitely do mind the political ads. EVERY SINGLE topline banner today is a 'Yes on 21' ad for California, probably because that's where I'm located. I would hope there's a way to remove the (advertising) politics from the site as adeptly as FHoPol has done for voluntary posts and discussions.
