Every time I see the European Prius it looks like a U.S. Touring model with the 7 spoke alloys. Is this standard European model actually the same as the Touring, specifically with beefier rear suspension? Thanks.

i think you have it correct. the us and Europe were different till the brought the touring (euro) over here as a touring model. (there could be minor tweaks.. but i think it's right on)

in the genIII they were testing euro and American when they supposedly decided to simply do it all euro tuning. (test drivers liked the feel more)

2004-2009 European Prius has 4 wheel disk brakes and no gas tank bladder.

What speed does the EV mode automatically disengage at in EU spec?

Interesting you say it's tuned for European tuning as over here the gen3 Prius is described as having soft, American style suspension!

    Interesting, in Japan-spec models it's apparently 35mph.

There are two limits for the EV Drive Mode for both generations

Gen 2: 55km/h for NA and Japan.. and I think 45km/h for Europe and Australia

Gen 3: Cold: 16km/h for NA and 25km/h for Japan/Europe
Warm: 40km/h for NA and 50km/h for Japan/Europe

lol. Well that's what they told us. In Japan, they get the option of both (standard setup on 15" models and "Euro-tuned" on the 17" models)
